  • Patent number: 6703974
Abstract: An antenna system and an associated method are provided that are capable of providing improved cross-polarization isolation, thereby negating the otherwise deleterious effects of cross-coupling between orthogonally polarized signals that occur within a dual orthogonally polarized antenna, such as a phased array antenna. Thus, the antenna system can more reliably transmit and/or receive dual orthogonally polarized signals over a wide range of elevation and azimuth scan angles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 20, 2002
Date of Patent: March 9, 2004
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
Inventors: Geoffrey O. White, Shashi M. Sanzgiri

  • Patent number: 5923296
Abstract: A dual, preferably orthogonally polarized microstrip patch antenna which includes a layer of electrically insulating material in the form of a printed circuit board. First and second sets of electrically conductive patches, preferably of copper, are disposed on one surface of the electrically insulating material, the first set adapted for transmission and/or reception of electromagnetic radiations polarized in a first direction and the second set adapted for transmission and/or reception of electromagnetic radiations polarized in a second direction. Patches of the first set are interlaced with patches of the second set.
