  • Patent number: 5545700
Abstract: Silicone pressure sensitive adhesive compositions which cure in the presence of moisture comprise an adhesive component which bears alkoxy radical-containing curing radicals and, optionally, a catalyst to accelerate the reaction of moisture with the alkoxy radicals to form siloxane bonds. Curing provides adhesives ranging from pressure sensitive adhesives having improved properties to permanent adhesives. The adhesives are useful for adhering an object to a surface and thereafter improving the bond between the object and the surface by exposure to moisture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 10, 1994
Date of Patent: August 13, 1996
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation
Inventors: Shawn K. Mealey, Randall G. Schmidt, William P. Brady

  • Patent number: 5300171
Abstract: A pressure sensitive adhesive tape comprising a tape substrate having at least a portion of one or more sides coated with a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive is constructed using an adhesive which cures to a permanent adhesive. The adhesive is covered on the outer side with a release film, preferably coated with a fluorosilicone release layer, to allow storage of the tape. Preferably the curable silicone pressure sensitive adhesive is cured upon exposure to moisture, the tape therefore being stored in the absence of moisture. A silicone elastomeric structural glazing tape is made by using a silicone elastomer as the tape substrate. The tape can be used to bond glazing panels to building components without the use of other means of fastening.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 5, 1994
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation
Inventors: Joseph T. Braun, Joseph N. Clark, Virgil J. Johnson, Shawn K. Mealey, William J. Schoenherr
  • Patent number: 5281455
Abstract: Moisture-curable silicone pressure sensitive adhesives can be covered with an addition-cured fluorosilicone release coating to provide a releasable laminate. The release force of the laminate is low to moderate and the subsequent adhesion and tack of the adhesive is high and all three values are stable with time.

  • Patent number: 5210156
Abstract: Silicone pressure sensitive adhesive compositions which cure in the presence of moisture comprise an adhesive component which bears alkoxy radical-containing curing radicals, a catalyst to accelerate the reaction of moisture with the alkoxy radicals to form siloxane bonds and a multialkoxy silicon compound to stabilize the composition in the solventless state. Curing provides adhesives ranging from pressure sensitive adhesives having improved properties to permanent adhesives. The adhesives are useful for adhering an object to a surface and thereafter improving the bond between the object and the surface by exposure to moisture.

  • Patent number: 5208300
Abstract: Silicone pressure sensitive adhesive compositions which are stable in the absence of moisture but which cure in the presence of moisture comprise an adhesive component which bears alkoxy radical-containing curing radicals and, optionally, a catalyst to accelerate the reaction of moisture with the alkoxy radicals to form siloxane bonds. Curing provides adhesives ranging from pressure sensitive adhesives having improved properties to permanent adhesives. The adhesives are useful for adhering an object to a surface and thereafter improving the bond between the object and the surface by exposure to moisture.
