  • Patent number: 11182970
Abstract: A system may include an augmented reality (AR) aircraft window. The AR aircraft window may include a transparent emissive display layer, a camera, and a processor communicatively coupled to the transparent emissive display layer and the camera. The processor may be configured to: receive, from an avionics computing device, aircraft data including information of a location, an altitude, a heading, and a bank angle of an aircraft; receive video from the camera; perform head tracking operations to determine a position of at least one of eyes or a head of a user based at least on the video from the camera; generate graphical AR content aligned with the user's view through the AR aircraft window based at least on the aircraft data and performance of the head tracking operations; and output, to the transparent emissive display layer, the graphical AR content when at least one window shader element is transparent.

  • Patent number: 9197906
Abstract: An aircraft cabin management system including a) a communication interface system; b) a seat interface system; c) at least one Cabin Distribution Unit (CDU); and, d) a communication network. The communication interface system includes an integrated Cabin Server Unit (CSU) providing the combined functionality of aircraft communications, networking, and computational resources; and, an Information Maintenance Portal (IMP) providing maintenance access for the users of the aircraft cabin management system and the users of avionics equipment. The seat interface system includes a number of Modular Seat Interface Units (MSIUs), each MSIU providing device input/output connections for a defined portion of the interior of the aircraft cabin. The communication network operatively interconnects the communication interface system; the seat interface system; and the at least one CDU, as well as other equipment installed in the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 7213055
Abstract: Cable modem terminator comprising new head-end of passenger in-flight entertainment system forms an extended intranet through cable modems disposed at one or more passengers seats. Cable modems form secondary digital networks that deliver data and entertainment content to aircraft integral devices or personal electronic devices belonging to individual passengers.

  • Patent number: 6335694
Abstract: An audio system that may include a flight-worthy electronics package that connects into the airborne electronics of a passenger aircraft, and to that aircraft's passenger system. The audio system may provide passengers with a variety of audio information. The audio information may include a variety of information tailored to phases of the flight plan of the aircraft. Thus, during takeoff, the system may describe the flight plan of the aircraft, whereas during descent, the system may alternately describe the distance to destination and time to destination. Other information that may be described, as desired, may include ground speed, outside air temperature, altitude, time or distance to a point of interest, and points of interest of the area that the aircraft is flying over at any particular moment. The audio system may cause these sequences of descriptions to recite automatically as determined by the preprogramming of the system. Passengers may also be provided with audio destination information.

  • Patent number: 4839658
Abstract: A process is provided for establishing when selected pairs of airborne aircraft are in en route conflict or are in potential en route conflict. The process includes a number of "filtering" steps arranged in three branches. At each step, different conditions, such as height separation, lateral separation, height convergence, lateral convergence and "look-ahead" projections are examined for each aircraft pair. Criteria are established for each "filtering" step such that aircraft pairs not passing the filter to the next step are exited as either "no conflict", "current conflict" as "potential conflict". Sixteen such filtering steps are provided, one of which establishes a "current conflict" status and four of which establish a "potential conflict" status.
