  • Patent number: 7892018
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly includes a housing and a cable loading stop element. The housing extends between a cable receiving end and an opposite mating end. The housing includes an inner surface that defines an opening extending through the housing from the cable receiving end to the mating end. The opening is shaped to receive a cable that is loaded into the housing through the cable receiving end. The cable loading stop element is coupled to the housing and protrudes into the opening from the inner surface of the housing. The cable loading stop element limits a distance that a jacket of the cable is loaded into the housing while permitting a wire disposed within the jacket of the cable to be moved within the opening across the cable loading stop element.

  • Patent number: 6540540
Abstract: A socket 10 is used to mount a memory module 2, such as a small outline dual in-line memory module, on a printed circuit board 4. The socket 10 includes a plurality of contacts 30 mounted in a housing 20 so that contact can be established with pads on opposite sides of a card included in the module 2 when the module is cammed into the a housing slot 22. Identical latches 40 are mounted on opposite ends 24, 26 of the housing 20. Each latch 40 includes a latch arm 41 that can be deflected in opposite directions with latching surfaces 46, 47 on opposite sides, so that the same latch configuration can be used on either end. A floating solder foot 60 is mounted on each latch 40 so that the latch 40 can be soldered to the printed circuit board 4 with no concern for misalignment or stresses induced by warpage of the socket 10 or the printed circuit board 4.

  • Patent number: 5913700
Abstract: An electrical connector for interconnecting a circuit card to a substrate includes a dielectric housing having an elongated slot which is open for receiving an edge portion of the circuit card, and a plurality of contacts which are spaced-apart along a length of the slot. Each of the contacts has a base portion, a lead extending from the housing for connection with a circuit path on the substrate, and a contact arm having a contact surface which extends into the slot for engaging a respective contact pad on the circuit card. An electrical path through each contact is defined from the contact surface to the lead, the electrical path being relatively long when the contact is undeflected. The contact arm has a free end which engages the base portion of the contact during insertion of the circuit card into the slot, wherein a relatively shorter electrical path through the contact is defined from the contact surface to the lead.
