  • Patent number: 8577352
Abstract: The use of a wireless control device (WCD) in a motor vehicle is detected by a local RF detector triggering (1) a COM COMPARE signal generated by a COM chip in the vehicle which is characteristic of that motor vehicle and which is transmitted almost simultaneously with (2) the WCD COMPARE signal which is also characteristic of the WCD then in that motor vehicle. The results of the time comparison of these two signals can be used by the WCD processing center to control the use of the WCD in the motor vehicle, for example, to prevent the WCD from sending and/or receiving text messages or limiting in certain ways the use of voice calls from a WCD in that vehicle at that time.

  • Patent number: 8154393
Abstract: This invention relates to a warning system for use on board a motorized road vehicle. The warning system includes an activity detector that detects an RF signal emitted from a mobile phone when a person driving the motorized vehicle is communicating over the mobile phone. The warning system also has a display device in communication with the activity detector, the display device providing a visual indication to a motorist of another vehicle near the motorized vehicle in traffic, in a manner that allows the motorist of the other vehicle to ascertain when the person driving the motorized vehicle is using the mobile phone.

  • Publication number: 20060167971
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for creating a network of persons, efficiently connected to a computer through a location-aware mobile phone network, to enable them to perform the duties of sensing agents to collect and deliver to a computer server human-observable data of commercial or public value across a large area. The data collection process tightly integrates the agents, using the phones as the primary interface to the server, to program the actions and objective results of the agent-observers, effectively making them extensions of software programs resident on a computer server. Requests, via Internet browser-based interfaces from clients of such data, are translated by software into specific instructions to appropriate agents in the network specifying such parameters as observations sought, sample densities, locations, frequencies of observations and other such critical parameters.

  • Publication number: 20030122791
Abstract: The invention provides for the display and storage of information of a form and a note in freehand. A computer receives a signal from a receiver including a suite of gestures and information of the note in freehand. The computer determines which of a plurality of computer-level templates corresponds to the information of the form based on the suite of gestures in the signal. The selected template is used to provide a two-dimensional layout substantially similar to the ink printed on the form. Upon selecting the template, the template is used to display an image of the freehand note on a computer display. The two-dimensional image of the freehand note and the template may also be stored in a datastore.

  • Publication number: 20020080199
Abstract: The invention is a notepad incorporating a device for transmitting handwritten notes via email. As part of the system, certain hardware and software are built in the notepad to cause emailed notes to be routed through a server thus building up a userbase. Several specific, automated actions are taken on the note which is beneficial to the sender, the manufacturer, and vendors.

  • Publication number: 20020063699
Abstract: The invention provides a kit for recording a note in free-hand. The kit includes a plurality of notesheets and a unit for relaying information of a note in free-hand created in one of the notesheets. The unit includes a pad having a surface on which a notesheet of the plurality of notesheets can be positioned. The pad includes a housing, and secured to the housing, a positioned sensor, a signal converter, and a transmitter. The positioned sensor takes the position of a writing instrument when the notesheet is located on the surface and the writing instrument is used to create a note in freehand on the notesheet, and provides information of the note in freehand. The signal converter receives the information of the note in freehand from the position sensor and converts the information to a signal of information of the note in freehand. The transmitter receives the signal from the signal converter and transmits the signal to a remote location.
