  • Patent number: 6227505
Abstract: A mounting platform includes a slide having a mounting shoe thereon with the slide being mounted to the platform for movement between at least first and second spaced-apart positions. In a preferred embodiment, the platform includes a guide for the slide which is spring-loaded and which slides within the guide and includes interlocking tabs and slots for positively locking the slide in at least two spaced-apart positions, thereby longitudinally moving the mounting shoe between such positions. In a preferred embodiment also, in order to provide a finished appearance to the mounting system, the slide includes a forward section which extends through an aperture formed in the platform and slides along an upper surface thereof with the body of the slide extending through the aperture into the guide such that the aperture remains enclosed by the main body or forward extension for all positions of the slide, thereby enclosing the platform.

  • Patent number: 5765899
Abstract: A visor includes a visor body receiving a longitudinally extending pivot rod to which there is fixedly mounted a generally U-shaped resilient clamp surrounding the pivot rod. A cam is coupled to the clamp and includes an actuating lever for selectively operating the clamp for releasing the pivot rod from the clamp allowing the visor body to slide longitudinally with respect to the pivot rod. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the clamp is made of a resilient polymeric material having a cylindrical aperture adjacent its closed end for lockably receiving the pivot rod therein. Extending between the legs of the generally U-shaped clamp is an L-shaped cam rod having a flat extending between the legs such that they remain in a fully closed, clamped position while locking the visor body with respect to the pivot rod. The cam rod can be rotated by the actuation of a lever coupled thereto for spreading the legs of the U-shaped clamp apart for releasing the visor rod.

  • Patent number: 5455716
Abstract: A mounting assembly for a vehicle rearview mirror has breakaway capability and includes a base for attachment to an interior portion of a vehicle and a support for releasable attachment to the base. A rearview mirror assembly is mounted on an end of said support. The support and base include removable electrical connectors for removably, electrically connecting any one of a variety of selectable electrical circuits in the rearview mirror assembly to wiring in the vehicle roof structure. A spring clip is provided to releasably connect the support member to the base such that a predetermined level of force is required to cause the support to release from the base and thereby permit the rearview mirror to break away.

  • Patent number: 5433509
Abstract: An armrest includes an armrest body and mounting mechanism to allow the armrest body to be pulled upwardly from a lower forward edge from a stored vertical position into a generally horizontal use position and subsequently be swiveled on a generally vertical axis in a generally horizontal plane from side to side to fully support and align with the longitudinal axis of the forearm of the In one embodiment of the invention, the upper surface of the armrest body was concave to cradle the user's arm. In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the armrest body was adjustable in a generally vertical plane for tilting the armrest to the most comfortable position.

  • Patent number: 5320414
Abstract: A blade-shaped armrest pivots along mutually orthogonal axis to provide compact storage adjacent the side of a seat and yet provide a wide support surface when moved to a lowered use position. In one embodiment, the armrest automatically rotates in two planes as it is moved between a stored position and the use position. In another embodiment of the invention, an armrest is pivotally mounted forwardly of a pivoted support member and both members rotated together from a generally vertical position to a horizontal position and the armrest is then rotated with respect to the support member to a horizontal position for use. A releasable latch holds the armrest in a selected position with respect to the support member.

  • Patent number: 5226569
Abstract: A garment hanger support includes a housing for storably receiving a hanger support rod and a pair of spaced arms pivotally attached to opposite ends of the support rod. Each of the pivot arms have ends remote from the pivot mounting of each of the arms to the support rod which are pivotally and slideably mounted within the housing such that the support rod can be moved downwardly while the pivot arms at either end extend outwardly and downwardly forming a generally U-shaped structure when in an extended position. For storage, the support rod is pushed upwardly and the ends of the pivot arms remote from the hanger support slide inwardly and pivot for overlapping contracted storage within the housing with the lower surface of the hanger support rod enclosing the space into which the pivot arms are stored.

  • Patent number: 4738481
Abstract: The sun screen and console of the present invention provides a panel which is slideably mounted to the vehicle and movable fore and aft within the vehicle in a generally horizontal plane between a retracted position and a forwardly extended position which provides cover above the passenger's and/or driver's seat. To the forward edge of the sliding panel, there is pivotally mounted a visor which is movable between a raised stored position and a lowered use position. The invention also contemplates a console comprising a cantilever beam mount which, in the preferred embodiment, comprises a pair of parallel spaced beams which are mounted in a cantilevered fashion to the rear roof area of the vehicle and which extend forwardly under a transparent forward roof. In a preferred embodiment, the beams provide guide slots for the pair of sliding sun screen panels.

  • Patent number: 4640542
Abstract: A telephone mount for an automobile includes a telephone housing in which a telephone receiver carriage is slidably mounted. The carriage slides along arcuate guide tracks in order to both translate and rotate while shifting between the storage position within the housing and a use position in which the receiver is located through the housing opening. A constant force spring biases the carriage from the storage position to the use position and a latch mechanism maintains the carriage in the storage position.
