Abstract: Methods and apparatus for electrochemically determining an analyte concentration value in a physiological sample are disclosed. The methods include using a test strip in which two time-current transients are measured by a meter electrically connected to an electrochemical test strip. Integrative current values are derived from the time-current transients and used in the calculation of analyte concentration.

Abstract: An analytical test strip for the determination of an analyte (e.g., glucose) in a liquid sample (such as whole blood) includes a matrix, with the matrix having a sample detection zone and a control zone(s). The sample detection zone includes a first reagent composition that reacts with analyte in the liquid sample to create a sample response and is configured to receive a first portion of the liquid sample. The control zone(s) includes a second reagent composition and is configured to receive another portion(s) of the liquid sample. In addition, the second reagent composition creates a predetermined control response when exposed to the second portion of the liquid sample. The predetermined control response, either alone or in combination with the sample response, can be employed to verify acceptable functioning of the analytical test strip and/or to provide a calibration factor for the analytical test strip.

Abstract: Multilayer reagent test strips for quantitating glycated protein in a fluid sample, as well as methods for using the same, are provided. The subject multilayer test strips include at least a filter layer, a proteinase layer and a ketoamine oxidase signal producing and fluid flow control system layer. In using the subject test strips, a fluid sample is applied to the test strip and a signal is generated that can be employed to quantitate the glycated protein level in the sample. The quantitated glycated protein level can then be employed to determine the amount of glycated protein in the fluid sample. Also provided are kits and systems that include the subject test strips and find use in practicing the subject methods. The subject compositions and methods find use in glycated protein monitoring applications, among other utilities.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for determining whether a volume of biological sample is adequate to produce an accurate electrochemical analyte concentration measurement. Certain such methods and systems provide the additional function of compensating for a sample volume determined to be less than adequate in order to proceed with an accurate analyte concentration measurement. The present invention is employed with a biosensor, such as an electrochemical test strip to which the sample volume of biological solution is deposited, and a meter configured to receive such test strip and to measure the concentration of selected analytes within the biological sample.
