  • Patent number: 6929498
Abstract: A socket connector (30) comprises a base (32) with a mounting member (33) molded onto the base. The mounted member can be soldered on a PCB (40), thereby to secure the socket connector on the PCB. Additionally, a method of molding the mounting member onto the base comprises the following steps: forming the mounting member, positioning the mounting member in a base mold (70) having an upper mold (70a) and a lower mold (70b), closing the upper mold and the lower mold, inserting plastic material into the base mold, cooling the base mold, separating the upper mold and the lower mold, extracting the formed base with a part of the mounting member molded into the housing. The mounting member is molded onto the base, thereby to avoid incidence of damage during insertion of the mounting member onto the base.

  • Patent number: 6780040
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) comprises an insulative base (10), a cover (12) mounted on the base, a plurality of terminals (11), and an actuator (14) actuating the cover to slide over the base. The base defines a plurality of passageways (101) receiving the corresponding terminals therein. The cover comprises a main body (121) defines a plurality of passages (1210) corresponding to the passageways of the base. Four L-shaped standoffs (1212) perpendicularly extend from corresponding four corners of the main body. Each standoff has a same height. A cross sectional area of each of the standoffs is far less than a cross sectional area of the main body. When a CPU (2) is mounted on the electrical connector, it is supported by the standoffs of the cover. This insures stably and securely retention of the CPU on the cover of the connector.

  • Publication number: 20040016674
Abstract: A packing device (1) is for accommodating electrical connectors (2). The packing device includes a body (10), and a plurality of cavities (11) defined in the body. Each cavity is bounded by a bottom wall having a higher front end (12) and a lower rear end (13), a front wall (14) adjacent the front end, and a rear wall (15) adjacent the rear end. A through slot (18) is defined in the front end. When the packing device filled. with electrical connectors reaches a corner or curve of an assembly line, a rearward one of two adjacent cavities tilts. The front wall at the rearward cavity bends into the slot at the rearward cavity, instead of contacting and bending or distorting the rear wall at the adjacent forward cavity. Thus, the electrical connector in the forward cavity can be reliably picked up by a suction machine of the assembly, line.

  • Patent number: 6500019
Abstract: A ZIF PGA mobile socket (1) includes a base (2), a cover (3) slidably mounted on the base, a number of electrical contacts, a ring (5) secured in the cover, a cam (4) partially received in the ring, and a washer (42). The cam of the socket rotates in the metallic ring when driven by an external tool, thereby driving the cover to slide along the base, opening and closing the engagement between pins of a chip mounted on the cover and the electrical contacts mounted in the base. The cam has a riveting portion (413) extending downwardly beyond the base. The washer includes a support portion (422) being riveted to the cam by the riveting portion and a peripheral portion (423) has no engagement with the base. The support portion is thicker than the peripheral portion.
