  • Patent number: 7683155
Abstract: A phenolic novolak having the contents of a monomeric phenol and a dimeric phenol and a degree of dispersion controlled can be obtained in high yield by a process for production of a phenolic novolak having a step of conducting a heterogeneous reaction of a phenol and an aldehyde in the presence of a phosphoric acid and an unreactive oxygen-containing organic solvent as a reaction cosolvent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 29, 2003
Date of Patent: March 23, 2010
Assignee: Asahi Organic Chemicals Industry Col., Ltd.
Inventors: Shigeki Inatomi, Noboru Tanoue, Motoji Yokoyama, Hirofumi Shinohara, Satoshi Takehara
  • Patent number: 7241833
Abstract: A process for production of phenolic novolak which comprises the step of conducting heterogeneous reaction of a phenol with 0.40 to 0.93 mol of an aldehyde per mol of the phenol in the presence of at least 25 parts by mass of a phosphoric acid per 100 parts by mass of the phenol. This process can give in high yield phenolic novolak with the contents of monomeric and dimeric phenols and a degree of dispersion controlled.

  • Publication number: 20060223930
Abstract: The present invention relates to a phenol resin composition comprising a phenol resin and boehmite having an average particle diameter (minor diameter) of 100 nm or less, and a phenol resin composition further comprising a benzooxazine resin in a weight ratio of the phenol resin to the benzooxazine resin within a range from 95/5 to 25/75. In a specific aspect, the phenol resin composition of the present invention is characterized in that it contains boehmite having an aspect ratio within a range from 1 to 100 and also contains an alumina-based compound as a filler, an amount of the boehmite being from 1 to 150 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the phenol resin.

  • Patent number: 6803489
Abstract: A process is provided for the purification of 4,4′-(9-fluorenylidene)diallylphenol. With an inclusion-compound-forming solvent which contains an inclusion-compound-forming compound capable of forming an inclusion compound with 4,4′-(9-fluorenylidene)diallylphenol, crude 4,4′-(9-fluorenylidene)diallylphenol is dissolved to form the inclusion compound in the form of a solution. The inclusion compound is then caused to deposit, for example, by charging the solution of the inclusion compound into a poor solvent for the inclusion compound, for example, an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent such as n-hexane, n-heptane, cyclohexane or a mixture thereof.
