  • Patent number: 5967897
Abstract: A game input device and game apparatus are provided in which a beginner can easily control the position of an object to be controlled and which can actually cause players to feel shocks produced when a plurality of objects to be controlled collide against one another through a simplified structure. Arcuate rotary type controllers are provided which comprise two controllers 30-1 and 30-2 rotatably moved along an arc in the lateral direction. Two players can perform input by using these controllers 30-1 and 30-2. Each of the players can simply move the corresponding one of the controllers 30-1 and 30-2 in the lateral direction. The objects controlled by one of the players will never move beyond the objects controlled by the other player. Thus, a collision occurs between the controlled objects. The present invention causes a collision between the controllers 30-1 and 30-2 to be transmitted directly to the players as collision between the controlled objects.

  • Patent number: 5853324
Abstract: A shooting game machine having a gun for shooting at a target displayed on a display. The shooting game machine has a foot-operated input section for being stepped on by a player to select one of attack and defense modes, and a game computing section for computing for a game based on inputs from the foot-operated input section and the gun and a given game program. When the attack mode is selected, the game computing section computes for causing the player to attack and damage an enemy in a game space while the player being exposed to the attacks of the enemy. When the defense mode is selected, the game computing section computes for causing the player to avoid the attacks of the enemy by hiding or taking other actions for avoiding danger.

  • Patent number: 5569085
Abstract: A gun game machine wherein the player can hold a model gun in the hand away from an machine casing. This gun game machine comprises a bullet hitting optical detection unit installed in the model gun for detecting a simulated bullet hitting position, a sliding cover provided on an exposed outward portion of the gunbarrel of the model gun and slidable in the longitudinal direction of the gunbarrel section, and a cover driving means for instantaneously moving the sliding cover at high speed. The model gun and the game machine casing may be coupled to each other by means of a flexible cable containing electric conductors. The sliding cover makes a long reciprocating motion similar to the so-called blow-back movement of an actual gun, so that the player can feel a similar reaction or impact corresponding to the firing of the actual gun. This simulated firing operation also serves to attract spectators to the game.

  • Patent number: 5351966
Abstract: A game apparatus includes a game stage formed by a three-dimensional model and a plurality of image synthesizing scopes disposed radially toward the game stage. Each of the image synthesizing scopes is adapted to synthesize and display the scene of the game stage superimposed on a video scene. The video scene is formed as a panorama scene which is displayed superimposing over substantially the entire area of the game stage. Each of the image synthesizing scopes is adapted to scrollingly display the window scene to be viewed through the viewing window while being superimposed on the actually viewed scene of the game stage, within the extent of the panorama scene.
