  • Patent number: 5078298
Abstract: A parts feeding apparatus is disclosed for use in feeding a supply of garment appliance parts such as buttons, hooks, slide fastener component parts and the like from parts reservoirs or parts feeders through a plurality of feed chutes onto a parts applying holder. The feed chutes each carrying thereon an array of parts of different types and colors are pivotally movable in the same plane into and out of an operative position relative to the parts applying holder, in which position the parts are selectively transferred onto the holder.

  • Patent number: 5027501
Abstract: An apparatus for attaching bottom stops of a generally H-shaped cross section to a slide fastener chain. According to a preferred embodiment, a pair of stringer tapes of one of successive spaced element-free space sections are spread apart by a spreading member. The top and bottom faces of the center base of the bottom stop are clamped resiliently by clamping members until attaching of the bottom stop to the fastener chain is finished and the clamping members move vertically for placing the bottom stop between the stringer tapes of the space section. The spread pair of stringer tapes are then drawn near to come toward each other by a drawing member until the beaded edges of the space section can be threaded respectively through spaces formed between the pair of gripping legs of the bottom stop. Then the fastener chain is transported so that the bottom stop is located to be contacted with the space section-side face of the terminal element of the row of coupling elements.

  • Patent number: 4501547
Abstract: A coupling element shaper comprises a pair of parallel externally threaded screw members corotatable in a common direction and disposed on opposite sides of a mandrel along which a core thread is fed while a filamentary material is wound around the mandrel into a row of helically coiled coupling elements. Each screw member has a portion varying in pitch to gradually reduce in a direction from one end to the opposite end thereof. The core thread is squeezed by the coupling elements as shaped by such portion so as to have a certain degree of stretchability which can cancel or take out its shrinkage when the coupling elements are sewn to a slide fastener stringer tape.

  • Patent number: 4494922
Abstract: A stamping apparatus disclosed deforms a filamentary material to provide coupling heads and the like at predetermined intervals along the length of the filament which is to be coiled and attached to stringer tapes for a slide fastener. The apparatus includes a pair of stamping rolls which are rotatable in opposite directions on their own axes simultaneously as they orbit about the axis of a rotor. A ring member rotatably connected to the stamping rolls is driven via the same power source as the rotor but rotates at a slower or faster angular speed than the rotor, the resulting angular speed differential being utilized to effect the rotation of the stamping rolls on their axes.

  • Patent number: 4325184
Abstract: Improvements in apparatus of the type including a mandrel around which a continuous filament is coiled and which has a guide channel formed longitudinally therein for slidably receiving a continuous core to be positioned within the coil, and a mandrel holder holding the mandrel adjacent one end thereof and reciprocating with the latter in the longitudinal direction thereof in step with the formation of each convolution of the coil. A unit length of the core required for each coil convolution is forcibly pulled away from a core pay-off bobbin by a pair of pull-out rolls actuated intermittently by a ratchet mechanism. The mandrel holder has formed therein passageways through which the core travels from the pull-out roll pair to the entrance end of the guide channel in the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 4006620
Abstract: A device for shaping and transporting coil fastener elements which comprises a rotatable screw and an oppositely disposed rotating means having an endlessly toothed periphery. A mandrel of a coiling unit is arranged between the rotating screw and the rotating means with its extension curved in conformity with the periphery of the rotating means. Convolutions formed successively around the mandrel are shaped and transported between screws and rotating means and, upon departure and disengagement from the screw, are continued to advance in driving engagement with the rotating means toward a die wheel whereby they are finally set with heat.

  • Patent number: 4002278
Abstract: A method and apparatus for feeding a filler cord for insertion into and through a longitudinal space defined by successive convolutions of a coiled slide fastener element, the filler cord being looped in the course of its travel from a bobbin to a mandrel holder so that a proper back tension is imparted to the cord and the cord is supplied at a rate corresponding to the amount of withdrawal of the fastener element that has been shaped into a helical coil.

  • Patent number: 3984970
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing helically coiled coupling elements for slide fasteners. There are provided a filament supply unit, a filament coiling unit, a filament drive unit interposed between the supply unit and the coiling unit, and a tension-applying unit disposed between the drive unit and the coiling unit. As a filament is formed into a fastener element in the form of a continuous helical coil at the filament coiling machine, the filament is unwound from a relatively large bobbin in the supply device and at the same time is rotated about its own axis by a rotor of the supply unit at the same rate and in the same direction as the filament is coiled at the coiling unit to thereby eliminate twists on the filament which would otherwise be produced at the latter unit. The drive unit is also adapted to rotate the filament about its own axis while positivey feeding the filament toward the coiling unit.

  • Patent number: 3947946
Abstract: There are disclosed a method and apparatus for coupling or pairing, prior to attachment to fastener carrier tapes, two single rows of continuous elements for a slide fastener into a double element row, the two rows having been discharged respectively from a pair of separately located element shaping and transporting machines having different power sources. The speeds of both of discharge of the two single element rows and of withdrawal of the combined or double element row are selectively changed with the two single element rows advanced under constant tension, in order to ensure accurate and efficient coupling of the element rows even in the event the two machines operate out of complete synchronism to discharge the element rows at different rates of speed.
