  • Patent number: 6188689
Abstract: The system defines a dedicated virtual link (DVL) for a specified packet flow. The router receives a datalink frame having a Media Access Control (MAC) address field. An identifier of the DVL allocated between the router and a previous-hop node is written in the frame using the MAC address field. The router refers to a correspondence relationship between the identifier of the DVL and information for designating a next-hop node, based on the identifier of the DVL included in the received frame, and transfers the frame to the next-hop node without network-layer processing.

  • Patent number: 6147989
Abstract: ATM communication system capable of realizing a high speed and efficient datagram delivery for the connection-less communication among the terminals in the ATM network. In the system formed by a plurality of ATM networks inter-networking with each other, each network containing a plurality of terminals, the ATM networks with connection-less service function units for managing a connection-less datagram transmission are provided in the ATM networks, and the connection-less datagram transmission from each terminal to a destination terminal is performed by resolving a connection identifier for identifying an ATM connection connected to a destination side connection-less service function unit associated with a destination side ATM network containing the destination terminal, and transmitting datagram from said each terminal to the destination side connection-less service function unit through the ATM connection identified by the resolved connection identifier.

  • Patent number: 5732071
Abstract: A device and a scheme for realizing the bridge interconnection in the ATM network efficiently. In the bridge device, a MAC frame transmitted from the interface with respect to the ATM network is transmitted selectively to either a point-to-point ATM connection interconnecting this bridge device and another bridge device or a multicast ATM connection interconnecting this bridge device and other bridge devices, while MAC addresses and identifiers of point-to-point ATM connections are registered in correspondences in a table.

  • Patent number: 5525870
Abstract: A control apparatus for a fluorescent lamp for detecting an end-of-life state of a fluorescent lamp for making it possible to take suitable countermeasures. In the control apparatus, a load circuit is formed of a capacitor connected between filaments of a fluorescent lamp and a choke coil connected in series with the filament, and there are provided a detection coil for detecting a tube current flowing through the load circuit and a detection circuit receiving an output voltage of a rectifier circuit rectifying the output of the detection coil for detecting a rise in the output voltage occurring when the output frequency of an oscillation circuit is modulated by a modulation circuit.

  • Patent number: 5440547
Abstract: An asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network includes a plurality of data links interconnecting a plurality of data exchange nodes, and a plurality of data terminals connected by data links associated therewith to the data exchange nodes in the ATM network. In the ATM network, a virtual circuit is selectively established over which a series of data packets including one or a plurality of coded cells is routed from a source terminal toward a destination terminal. Each of these cells includes an information field and a header section. The terminals are assigned with identification parameters respectively, which parameters are uniform in value within the network. When a cell is transferred from the source terminal to the destination terminal along a presently determined route including selected links associated with certain data exchange node or nodes, a specific identification parameter being assigned to the destination terminal is written into the header section of the cell.
