  • Publication number: 20020017261
Abstract: A system for automatically stopping and starting an engine of a vehicle which enables proper determination of whether the stopping of the engine is possible, in accordance with the state of a battery. A power brought out from the battery by auxiliaries is subtracted from a power generated by a generator, thereby calculating a difference corresponding to a power for actually charging the battery. By sequentially adding the value, an integrated value of power charged in the battery is calculated. Meanwhile, a value of a known power WBRK consumed by a brake lamp plus a current power consumed by the auxiliaries is multiplied by a beforehand determined target value of idling-stoppage duration, thereby evaluating an evaluated integrated value of power consumed by the battery during stoppage of an idling. If the integrated value is not less than the evaluated integrated value, the stopping of the engine E is permitted.

  • Patent number: 6258252
Abstract: An object to be analyzed for corrosion and corrosion prevention is divided into a plurality of adjacent regions of plural types by a dividing plane, with one of the adjacent regions being referred to as an attentional region with a boundary as the dividing plane and the other as a non-attentional region with a boundary as the dividing plane. An initial current density or an initial potential is imparted to each element of the boundary of the non-attentional region to effect a boundary element analysis for determining a relationship between a potential and a current density in each the element. A potential distribution and a current density distribution in the attentional region in its entirety are determined, using the relationship between the potential and the current density in each the element of the boundary of the non-attentional region as a boundary condition for the attentional region.

  • Patent number: 5735248
Abstract: A fuel injection method wherein optimum fuel injection timing in a fuel-injection type gas fuel engine is determined by setting fuel injection end timing to be after the start of opening of an intake valve. That is, when injection ends in a first half of the intake valve open period the volumetric efficiency .eta.v falls and the engine output also falls, because the injection period overlaps with a period of positive pressure arising inside the intake pipe before opening of the intake valve, but when injection ends in a second half of the intake valve open period the volumetric efficiency .eta.v rises and the engine efficiency also rises, because the injection period overlaps with a period of negative pressure arising in the intake pipe during the first half of the intake value open period. Consequently, when fuel is injected during this trough in the intake port pressure, the volumetric efficiency increases and the engine output also increases by several percent.

  • Patent number: 5632250
Abstract: Supply of fuel is stopped when fuel pressure sensed by a pressure sensor provided upstream of a regulator is at a predetermined value or less to avoid abnormal combustion caused by improper adjustment of air/fuel ratio. Even slight variation of the fuel pressure is sensed by monitoring the fuel pressure in an interval after closing a fuel shut-off valve once opened to re-opening of it. In addition, an abnormal state in the fuel system is detected by comparing an accumulated value of amount of injected fuel and an estimated value of fuel consumption in the tank. Furthermore, the peak current value of the fuel injection valve is controlled so that, when the engine at a low temperature is started, lift load of the injection valve is larger than sticking force of the injection valve, thereby preventing such situation where the injection valve is frozen so that it cannot supply fuel to the engine. In this case, the engine can be smoothly started by simultaneously controlling the valve open time.

  • Patent number: 4936203
Abstract: An apparatus for shaping and arraying spheroidal bodies is provided. The apparatus comprises a means for continuously supplying a cylindrical body comprising an outer material and a filler material, a cutter assembly having cutter members circumferentially disposed to form a central opening, and an arraying device having an endless belt for transferring a tray. The cutter members slide inwardly to close the opening, and thus the part of the cylindrical body inserted in the opening is shaped into a spheroidal body. An endless belt device is disposed beneath the cutter assembly and the belt is driven intermittently and forwardly and the frame of the endless belt device is moved back and forth in a transverse direction. By moving the belt and frame of the endless belt device so that predetermined positions of its belt are in turn moved to a position directly beneath the opening of the cutter assembly, the spheroidal bodies drop on each predetermined position on a tray placed on the belt.
