  • Patent number: 6228308
Abstract: A screw adapted for plasticizing a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin wherein screw lead (distance of the resin advancement in the direction of the axis per 1 revolution of the screw when it is postulated that the screw channel is 100% filled with the resin) of the screw in its compression section decreases in the direction toward the forward end of the screw. A plasticizing apparatus wherein such screw is mounted. A method for molding a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin by using such an apparatus. A molded article produced by such molding method. In the present invention, shear force of sufficient level can be obtained to avoid the formation of clumps while breakage of the reinforcing fibers is avoided to leave long fibers in the molded article. The resulting molded article has excellent mechanical properties, and such article is quite useful as a material for use in automobile parts and other parts.

  • Patent number: 6002924
Abstract: A full-spectrum, multi-mode radio receiver provides truly continuous coverage of reception of radio signals in a variety of modes or formats, and in a frequency range extending from about 10 kHz to about 2600 MHz. That is, there or no frequencies or frequency bands within which reception is not possible or is possible only with a reduced performance of the radio receiver, because of spurs, inter-modulation products, or images. The radio receiver provides this broad-spectrum, continuous coverage of reception, and does so with a receiver front-end tuning selectivity to as little as 1 Hz.

  • Patent number: 5728776
Abstract: When producing a graft modified polyolefin by melting and kneading a polyolefin, a radical-polymerizable monomer and a radical-polymerization initiator, the producing efficiency is improved. The grafting reaction is effected by feeding the melted polyolefin containing either one of said radical-polymerizable monomer and the radical-polymerization initiator to the other. When said radical-polymerizable monomer is an unsaturated carboxylic anhydride, said unsaturated carboxylic anhydride as a starting material is preliminarily heated at 50.degree. to 250.degree. C., and then fed to the grafting reaction mentioned above. When the monomer is an unsaturated carboxylic acid or an acid anhydride of such an unsaturated carboxylic acid, an organic peroxide of a formula (I) is used as the radical-polymerization initiator. ##STR1## In this formula (I), two substituting groups connected directly to the benzene ring have an ortho-positional relationship or a meta-positional relationship, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.
