  • Publication number: 20050174746
Abstract: An LGA contact (50) comprises a retention body (51) and a pair of arms (52, 55) extending respectively from opposite sides of the retention body for electrically mating with corresponding conductive members (40, 60), respectively. Each arm is formed with a resiliently deformable hand (53, 56). In use, the two hands of the pair of arms are each resiliently pressed against each other to establish an extra electrical path on the contact. With this configuration of the contact, even though the hands each are devised to be relatively long or short, secure and steady electrical engagement between the hands can be assured and the impedance of the contact is securely and efficiently decreased.

  • Patent number: 6276942
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises a dielectric housing which defines two rows of chambers being in communication with a pair of slots and defined by a number of dividers, and a number of terminals received in the chambers. Each terminal includes a base, a soldering tail, a spring beam, a curved beam continuing the spring beam and a contacting beam. The base of each terminal has a number of embossments interferentially engaging with adjacent dividers for preventing the base from buckling during assembly and a number of barbs for securing the terminal by interferentially mating with the housing. The base further has a pair of recesses beside the spring beam for improving the compliance of the contacting beam in mating with a complementary connector. A neck is provided between the base and the soldering tail such that ensuring an even soldering of the soldering tails to a circuit board.

  • Patent number: 6231367
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a dielectric base plate in which steel and copper strips are embedded. The steel and copper strips are respectively arranged in opposite sides of the base plate substantially perpendicular to and interconnected to each other whereby when the base is subject to a heating process, the steel and copper strips limit and control thermal expansion in different directions of the base plate and reduce differences in thermal expansion between the base plate and a circuit board to which the connector is mounted. Furthermore, a method for achieving substantially uniform thermal expansion of a dielectric plate is also provided and comprises the steps of (1) providing a dielectric plate made by injection molding and (2) fixing steel and copper strips thereto for limiting and controlling the expansion of the plate in different directions to achieve substantially uniform thermal expansion of the plate.

  • Patent number: 6210234
Abstract: An electrical connector of the present invention comprises an elongate housing having a pair of side walls, a central wall between the side walls defining a number of chambers in opposite rows therealong, and a pair of slots respectively defined between the side walls and the central wall, and a number of contacts received in the chambers. The contacts each have a base, an arcuate beam depending upwardly from the base, and an engaging beam initially continuing upwardly from the arcuate beam. The engaging beam then bends twice to form a lower curved portion and an upper curved portion. Increasing bends of the top curved portion lessens the yielding of the contact. The lower curved portion reduces normal force provided by the connector. Moreover, the contact is secured by interferentially fitting with a side wall and the central wall of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6210176
Abstract: A contact comprises an engagement plate, a first curved neck and a second curved neck respectively extending from different positions of the engagement plate. A surface mount section is connected to the first curved neck and retained horizontal for mounting a solder ball thereon. A contacting section is connected to the second curved neck via a resilient arm. The resilient arm is deformable in response to an external urge to the contacting section, and a tension resulted from the deformed resilient arm is fully absorbed by the engagement plate.
