    Abstract: A system and method are provided for identifying weather hazard and other hazard information to aircraft in flight for direct graphical integration into situational awareness and other display components in the cockpit by transmitting the data over a comparatively low bandwidth information and/or data exchange connection with the aircraft. Graphically-displayed hazard information is provided for display on the aircraft cockpit display components in sufficient enough detail to support timely tactical decision making on the part of the pilots for hazard avoidance. The disclosed schemes provide a capacity to transmit higher fidelity hazard data to an aircraft over comparatively lower bandwidth systems by representing the hazard data by polygons to describe images, rather than describing the images on a much more cumbersome pixel-by-pixel basis.

    Abstract: A system and method may provide a real time alternative flight selection based on threat mitigation along a currently planned path at a specific time. The system and method may receive threat information associated with a specific path and compare the threat information to each leg of the path to determine if a threat may exist during that specific leg. Should a threat exist, the method may propose an alternate estimated time of departure (ETD) to mitigate the future threat. Should the alternate ETD be insufficient to mitigate the threat, the method may further propose an alternate lateral and vertical path at the original or modified ETD to successfully mitigate the threat.

The controller is further configured to calculate an aircraft performance parameter based on the received aircraft data; generate display data based on the calculated aircraft performance parameter, the received environmental data, and the user display preference; provide the display data to the display system; and store the calculated aircraft performance parameter and the environmental data in a memory.
