  • Publication number: 20050031961
Abstract: The present invention provides an electrode plate for a battery which prevents an electrode active material layer from being chipped and a collector from being broken on a course of production process and can be produced with large yield, processes for producing thereof, and a nonaqueous electrolyte battery using the electrode plate. A first electrode active material layer is formed intermittently on one surface of a sheet-like collector made of metal, and an electrode active material layer is formed intermittently on the other surface of the collector, wherein a starting position of the coating section is set so as to have a positional relationship in which it is 0.5 to 2.9 mm off from a starting side of the coated section of the first electrode active material layer on the one surface and shifted to a finishing side thereof.

  • Patent number: 6423446
Abstract: The present invention provides an electrode plate having a collector 1, an active material layer 2 and a non-coated portion 3 and satisfies at least one of the following conditions. (1) The maximum thickness in an area inside by 20 mm from an edge portion of the active material layer is not more than the sum of an average thickness of the active material layer and 10 &mgr;m. (2) In an inclined portion of the peripheral edge portion of the active material layer, an area in which the thickness of the active material layer is not less than 1 &mgr;m and less than an average thickness of the active material layer has a width of not more than 1 mm. (3) An absolute value of a positional shifting of an actually formed pattern with respect to a true boundary line of a predetermined pattern is not more than 1 mm.

  • Patent number: 6315801
Abstract: An electrode plate for a secondary battery with a nonaqueous electrolyte composed of a collector and an active material layer which is formed of at least an active material and a binder disposed on the collector, and the electrode plate is provided with a terminal mounting portion provided with a collector surface exposed to mount a terminal. In such electrode plate, the exposed collector surface of the terminal mounting portion has the same shape and size substantially as those of an area to which the terminal is actually mounted. The electrode plate may further be provided with an identification mark made by forming the active material layer in shape of pattern on an area at which the collector surface is exposed or by exposing the collector surface in the shape of pattern on an area at which the collector is covered with the active material layer.

  • Patent number: 6162264
Abstract: A porous coating layer formed on a substrate is impregnated, based on a prescribed pattern, with liquid material having a larger cohesion after solidification thereof than that of the coating layer. The liquid material is solidified to form a solidified material. Then, a portion of the coating layer, which has been impregnated with the solidified material is peeled to expose partially the surface of the substrate on the basis of the prescribed pattern, thereby producing the porous coating layer having the prescribed pattern. An electrode plate for a secondary battery with a nonaqueous electrolyte can be produced by utilizing the above-mentioned production process.

  • Patent number: 6152971
Abstract: The present invention provides an electrode plate for a secondary battery with a nonaqueous electrolyte, and a process for producing same capable of forming accurately and economically the active material layer on the collector surface. The process comprises the steps of: (1) applying a peelable material on a predetermined area of a collector surface, and drying same to form a peelable layer; (2) applying an electrode forming composition comprising an active material and a binder on the collector surface to form an active material layer lying over at least one area of the peelable layer previously formed; and (3) peeling the peelable layer from a collector together with a portion of the active material layer disposed on the peelable layer to partially expose the collector surface, thereby forming a noncoated portion having a predetermined pattern on the collector surface.

  • Patent number: 5847786
Abstract: A liquid crystal orienting method orients a liquid crystal of a liquid crystal display medium (1) having a base (2), a conductive layer (3) formed on the base (2), and a polymer dispersed liquid crystal film (PDLC film) (4) formed of a material prepared by dispersing the liquid crystal in a polymer. A charger (71) is disposed opposite to the surface of the liquid crystal display medium (1) on the side of the PDLC film (4) so as not to come into contact with the liquid crystal display medium (1), and a grounded electrode (72) is disposed near the charger (71) so as to come into contact with the liquid crystal display medium (1). A potential difference is created through the conductive layer (3) between a portion of the liquid crystal display medium (1) charged by the charger (71) and a portion of the same in contact with the electrode (72) by electrostatic induction. Consequently, a vertical electric field is applied to the PDLC film (4) to orient the liquid crystal of the PDLC film (4).

  • Patent number: 5804330
Abstract: A packaged electrode plate for a secondary battery with a nonaqueous electrolyte comprises: an airtight container having a winding core and a tape pulling-out opening; and a wound tape comprising an electrode plate for a secondary battery with a nonaqueous electrolyte. The wound tape is stored in the airtight container and supported on the winding core thereof. A forward end of the wound tape is pulled out from the tape pulling-out opening of the airtight container, and the tape pulling-out opening is hermetically closed by means of an airtight sealing means which holds the forward end of the wound tape pulled out from the tape pulling-out opening.
