  • Publication number: 20030120754
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for searching a device on a network. The device searching server acquires a search condition from the device searching client, searches a device on the network and returns the search result to the device searching client. If the number of the device matching the search condition is at least equal to a predetermined number, additional information such as location information and charge information is added to the search result. Also if the device matching the search condition is absent, a device of a high frequency of use, determined on the use history, is outputted as the search result.

  • Patent number: 6553431
Abstract: Each of input and output devices previously forms device profile, and a host computer acquires virtual input/output device information including a pair of ideal input and output devices on the basis of the device profiles of these devices. If the virtual input/output device information is acquired, the input device demands to acquire a transfer path profile included in the virtual input/output device information, and then demands if the transfer path profile is acquired the output device registered in the acquired transfer path profile to connect a line. If the line connection is established, the input device performs data inputting such that the acquired transfer path profile is reflected in the device setting, and then it transfers the input data to the desired output device.

  • Publication number: 20020116480
Abstract: Transmission data is generated depending on the status change of a device according to a message indicating the status information about the device and the destination information about the message and is transmitted by electronic mail, and the user who manages the device can be notified of the status of the device at an appropriate timing by a data transfer process apparatus, a device, a network system, a data transfer method, and a storage medium.

  • Patent number: 6147770
Abstract: An image processing system including a host computer, a scanner and a printer, which can reduce the load added to the host computer as well as burden to a user, and improve data transfer efficiency. When an image is scanned by the scanner connected to the host computer, the processing conventionally performed by the host computer or a printer is selected by a scan control selection unit and the selected processing is performed at the time of scanning.

  • Patent number: 6137587
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to shorten the time required to release an information processing apparatus such as a host computer from an output apparatus such as a printer when print information is transmitted from the information processing apparatus to the output apparatus. In step S501, print information is received. In step S502, it is checked whether information from another I/F is being processed. If YES in step S502, the print information is compressed and stored in a reception buffer. If NO in step S502, the flow directly advances to step S505 to store the print information in the reception buffer without compression.

  • Patent number: 6111657
Abstract: In an information processing system capable of suppressing an amount of data traffic relating to process on a network and reducing a processing time, the amount of data traffic is measured. If the measured amount exceeds a predetermined value and if the amount of data traffic is to be suppressed, then it is determined whether a resolution is to be lowered, and/or whether the number gradation levels is to be reduced. Based on a positive determination, the system temporarily shifts to a lower resolution and/or reduces the number of gradation levels, and converts the data to be processed accordingly.
