  • Patent number: 6360018
Abstract: Image processing apparatus/method, wherein a plurality of kinds of video signals in which aspect ratios of an image are different are selectively inputted and a predetermined arithmetic operation is executed by using predetermined coefficients selected in accordance with the kind of inputted video signal, thereby orthogonally transforming the inputted video signal. Image processing apparatus/method, wherein a video signal which was orthogonally transformed and encoded is inputted, the inputted video signal is inversely orthogonally transformed by performing a predetermined arithmetic operation by using predetermined coefficients, and the inversely orthogonally transformed video signal is outputted, and in the arithmetic operating process, the coefficients for use in the predetermined arithmetic operation are selected in accordance with an aspect ratio of the video signal when it is outputted.

  • Publication number: 20010055066
Abstract: An imaging apparatus uses an imaging device to generate an image signal corresponding to an image having an arbitrary number of H pixels by W pixels which is not greater than a predetermined number of P pixels by Q pixels in vertical and horizontal directions. The apparatus converts the generated image signal into an image signal corresponding to an image having a predetermined number of P pixels by Q pixels. In the imaging apparatus, an enlarged image signal corresponding to an enlarged image having the number of P pixels by Q pixels is generated by performing enlargement processing on the image signal generated using the imaging device, and an image signal corresponding to an image having the number of M pixels by N pixels is generated by performing reduction processing on the generated enlarged image signal corresponding to the image having the P pixels by Q pixels.

  • Publication number: 20010013869
Abstract: An image sensing unit generates a video signal by image-sensing an object. A detecting unit detects a feature of a picture contained in the video signal. An animation generating unit generates animation data on the basis of the detected feature. The generated animation data is synthesized with the video signal by a synthesizing unit. The resultant data is recorded.

  • Patent number: 5963678
Abstract: An image signal having h.times.v pixel signals in the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively, is input to an image signal processor and converted into an image signal having m.times.n pixel signals in the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively. The converted image signal having m.times.n pixel signals is then converted into the image signal having h.times.v pixel signals and is then subjected to compression encoding. The compresed image signal is decoded and converted into the image signal having m.times.n pixel signals by thinning the pixel signals of the decoded image signal.

  • Patent number: 5953456
Abstract: Image data of one frame stored in a memory is repetitively read a plurality of times as a still image. The read image data is encoded and recorded. In this case, the image data of one frame is divided into a plurality of areas, and the image data is encoded so as to make the image quality of the image data at a particular area be better than that of the image data at the other areas. The particular area in each set of the image data repetitively read is disposed differently. A still image of high quality can be therefore obtained.

  • Patent number: 5898531
Abstract: Input data is modulated, a two-valued signal regarding a signal of a specific frequency is generated, and a logical arithmetic operation between the modulation data and the two-valued signal is executed. In accordance with the result of the logical arithmetic operation, the specific frequency component in the modulation data is detected. The modulating operation is controlled in accordance with the detection result. As mentioned above, the specific frequency component in the modulation data is detected by the logical arithmetic operation between the modulation data and the two-valued signal. By controlling the modulator on the basis of the detection result, the specific frequency component in the modulation data can be detected by a simple construction. For example, an amount of specific frequency component in the modulation data can be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 5877908
Abstract: In a device or a recording apparatus for converting n-bit data into m-bit data with different conversion methods, and selecting and outputting one of a plurality of converted m-bit data, when controlling output means in accordance with the plurality of m-bit data, a specific signal component is extracted from each of the plurality of m-bit data, the absolute values of the plurality of extracted outputs are obtained, and at least one of the plurality of absolute values or the extracted output corresponding thereto is selectively output (recorded). Thus, superposition and suppression of a specific frequency component can be realized by a single circuit having a very simple circuit configuration. As a result, the size and the cost of a digital signal recording apparatus utilizing a modulation circuit of this kind can be reduced.
