  • Patent number: 6583550
Abstract: A fluorescent tube is constituted by a fluorescent tubular body having a transparent glass tube coated with a fluorescent layer containing a fluorescent material on its inner surface, and an ultraviolet LED substrate inserted in the fluorescent tubular body and having an equal length to the fluorescent tubular body. The ultraviolet LED substrate has twenty-four ultraviolet light emitting devices each having a long life, and the left end of the ultraviolet LED substrate is connected with lead wires through which electric power is supplied. Accordingly, when ultraviolet rays are emitted from the twenty-four ultraviolet light emitting devices, the fluorescent layer emits light in its own fluorescent color, the fluorescent tubular body as a whole emits light and the surroundings are illuminated with the light. Hence, the fluorescent tube can be used for illumination. Alternatively, the fluorescent tubular body may be formed by a transparent silicone rubber which can be bent into any desired shape.

  • Publication number: 20030047050
Abstract: A laser emitter projects a planer light beam to form an optical guideline on a work piece extending in a cutting direction of saw blade. The laser emitter is arranged behind, in the cutting direction, a tangential line of the circumference of the saw blade at an intersection of a bottom surface of the base and the circumference at a front side of the base in the cutting direction. The laser emitter forms the optical guideline behind the intersection in the cutting direction. The laser emitter is supported in respect of the saw blade slidingly in a direction defined by a rotation axis of the saw blade. The saw cover may have a window to transmit the laser beam toward the cutting point. A shutter selectively shutting the window may be provided.

  • Patent number: 6132478
Abstract: In a coal-water slurry producing system, low grade coal is wet-ground to not greater than 3 mm in particle size to produce a ground coal slurry. An upgrading treatment is applied to the ground coal slurry under a pressurized hydrothermal atmosphere not less than 300.degree. C. to produce an upgraded coal slurry. The upgraded coal slurry is subjected to a dehydration treatment to produce an upgraded coal cake and a filtrate. A final coal-water slurry is produced from the upgraded coal cake. The filtrate is recycled for producing the ground coal slurry. A slurry transfer mechanism is provided in the coal-water slurry producing system for ensuring a stable transfer of the upgraded coal slurry from a high-pressure slurry vessel to a low-pressure slurry vessel.

  • Patent number: 6111904
Abstract: The present invention provides another active layer structure provided in a light emission device for emitting a light with a predetermined wavelength. The active layer structure comprises a multiple quantum well structure and at least a second well layer. The multiple quantum well structure comprises alternating laminations of first well layers showing electroluminescence and potential barrier layers. The first well layers have a first set of energy band gaps which are uniform and corresponds to the predetermined wavelength, provided that energy band gap is defined as a difference between a ground level of electrons in conduction band and a ground level of holes in valence band. The second well layer is provided within any of the potential barer layers so that the second well layer is separated via the potential barrier layers from the first well layers.

  • Patent number: 5572916
Abstract: In a desk-top cutting machine, a magnet 24 and a magnetic pickup 22 are attached to a motor shaft 12. A control circuit 28 is provided for controlling a TRIAC 23 in response to the signal from the detection means. Further, a dynamic braking coil 25 which serves as braking means for a motor 11 when power supply to the motor 11 is stopped is provided in the motor 11. The dynamic braking coil 25 stops within a time during which no slip is produced between the motor shaft 12 and endless belt 18 and between the cutting blade shaft 10 and endless belt 18. In this way, the rpm and torque of the motor are controlled from motor starting to cutting and motor stopping.

  • Patent number: 5543957
Abstract: The invention realizes an optical modulator which prevents occurrence of an edge breakdown and is improved in extinction characteristic and voltage resisting property. The optical modulator comprises an oxide film formed as a growth inhibiting film on a compound semiconductor substrate of a first conduction type, a double heterostructure including a clad layer of the first conduction type, a light absorbing layer and a clad layer of a second conduction type successively formed in an opening of the oxide film, and an embedding structure for covering over the entire double heterostructure. The optical modulator is characterized in that the carrier concentration of the clad layer of the first conduction type exhibits a continuous variation from the semiconductor substrate to the light absorbing layer or the carrier concentration of the embedding structure portion exhibits a variation from a low concentration to a high concentration.

  • Patent number: 5519721
Abstract: A multi-quantum well (MQW) structure type semiconductor integrated laser element is constituted by a laser diode section and an optical modulator section which is integrated with the laser diode section and which contains a multi-quantum well structure. The multi-quantum well structure of the optical modulator section is a coupled multi-quantum well structure in which quantum states of the quantum wells are coupled with one another, thereby forming mini-bands. The large amounts of carriers produced by absorption are quickly scattered and lost through the mini-bands thereby enabling the modulation in proportion to the intensity of the electric field for modulation. The MQW integrated semiconductor laser element thus obtained exhibits excellent modulation characteristics and provides high output, and can be fabricated at a low cost with a high production yield.

  • Patent number: 4459723
Abstract: A slide fastener stringer includes a row of helically coiled or zig-zag coupling elements of thermoplastic synthetic resin with a reinforcing core extending longitudinally therethrough. The coupling elements are secured to one surface of a stringer tape by sewing threads having portions running across and over upper legs of the coupling elements. Some of the coupling elements are cut off to provide an element-free space on the stringer tape. A terminal or endmost complete coupling element disposed adjacent to the element-free space has a free-ended connecting portion remote from a longitudinal edge of the stringer tape. To form an end of the slide fastener stringer, the free-ended connecting end portion of the terminal coupling element is fused to the stringer tape, and at the same time, the upper leg of the terminal coupling element is heated and pressed toward the stringer tape.
