Patent number: 8885450Abstract: Information unique on a group basis is allowed to be efficiently added to a recording medium in which read-only contents data is recorded. Master data (cutting master) having a data structure in which data to be replaced is managed by a file system as data to be arranged in a specific folder or a specific file is produced by authoring. In manufacturing of a recording medium master disc through premastering and mastering using the master data, replacement data unique to each group is prepared, and the data to be replaced is replaced with the replacement data to perform the mastering (master disc exposure). Then, a stamper is produced from the produced master disc, and recording media is mass-produced by using the stamper. In other words, the replacement data are changed on the group basis to allow the recording media in which the replacement data (such as GP1 and GP2) unique to each group is recorded as read-only data to be manufactured, as recording media containing the same content.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2011Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignees: Sony Corporation, Sony DADC CorporationInventor: Shinobu Hayashi

Publication number: 20130297995Abstract: A data recording apparatus includes a storage unit, a control unit, and a card interface unit. The storage unit stores master data being original data of data to be recorded on a card-type medium. The control unit reads out the master data from the storage unit and executes a recording processing control of the read-out master data with respect to the card-type medium. The card interface unit installs the card-type medium therein and executes data recording processing. Further, the control unit executes, in parallel to recording processing of the master data with respect to the card-type medium, error verification processing of the master data to which the verification value stored in the storage unit is applied, and performs a control of stopping the recording processing of the master data with respect to the card-type medium when an error is detected.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2013Publication date: November 7, 2013Applicants: SONY DADC CORPORATION, SONY CORPORATIONInventors: Shinobu Hayashi, Toshihiko Senno

Patent number: 8089843Abstract: A recording drive waveform adjusting method for manufacturing a master disc is provided. The method includes forming an exposed area in an inorganic resist layer for test exposure by irradiating a master disc having the inorganic resist layer with laser light of a recording power based on a recording drive waveform according to a test recording signal. The method also includes obtaining reflected-light information by irradiating the exposed area formed in the test exposure with laser light of a reproducing power, determining whether the recording drive waveform is appropriate by using the reflected-light information, and correcting the recording drive waveform if the recording drive waveform is determined to be inappropriate in the determination.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2008Date of Patent: January 3, 2012Assignee: Sony Disc & Digital Solutions, Inc.Inventors: Toru Aida, Akitoshi Suzuki, Shinobu Hayashi, Akiya Saito

Patent number: 7557808Abstract: An image processing device for realizing more realistic pictures of explosions in video game devices and the like. Objects displaying such pictures of explosions are formed of spherical polygons (R1, R2, R3, . . . ) and planar polygons (S1, S2, S3, . . . ). Pictures of explosions are realized by alternately arranging these spherical polygons and planar polygons with the lapse in time. Preferably, pictures of polygons are realized by arranging the spherical polygons in layers on the boundary of the planar polygons.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2007Date of Patent: July 7, 2009Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha SegaInventors: Makoto Yamamoto, Kenji Tohma, Shinobu Hayashi, Tsuyoshi Matsuda, Yoshitaka Maeyama, Tomoya Takasugi

Patent number: 7334266Abstract: A reproduction control method adopted by an information-processing apparatus such as a personal computer for the purpose of protecting copyrights imposes a restriction on an operation carried out by a media reproduction apparatus such as a disc drive apparatus to reproduce musical data or the like (from a recording medium mounted on the media reproduction apparatus). A command issued by the processing main member of the information-processing apparatus (including application programs and an OS) to the media reproduction apparatus such as the disc drive apparatus to read out data recorded on the recording medium in a predetermined format is monitored. If the issuance of a command to read out data recorded in a predetermined format is confirmed, a copyright protection process is carried out to protect a copyright. The copyright protection process is a process to prohibit or conditionally permit a suck-up operation (to transfer the musical data from the recording medium to the personal computer).Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2003Date of Patent: February 19, 2008Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Tatsuya Inokuchi, Asako Kawakami, Shinobu Hayashi
