  • Publication number: 20220017060
Abstract: Monitoring the brake performance of a brake system of a machine (vehicle 11) by determining a brake delay between input of a request for a brake engagement of the brake system and brake system effectuating the brake engagement. The brake delay determination provides for capturing delay produced by communication of the input from a brake input, actuation of an input to brake system performance, processing of operation of the brake system, and operation of the brake/retardation components of the brake system with respect to the machine's wheels. For autonomous machines, brake delay may be measured periodically and used in monitoring brake system performance.

  • Publication number: 20220009469
Abstract: A control system is used to monitor the brake performance of a machine by detecting a brake engagement for decelerating the machine. If a wheel lock of at least one wheel of the machine is detected during the brake engagement and resulting from the brake engagement whilst the machine is moving, the data collected by the control system for brake engagement is rejected or the generation of brake performance data associated with the brake engagement is prevented. The machine may be an autonomous machine and the brake engagement may be routinely scheduled to provide for brake system monitoring while the machine is in operation.

  • Publication number: 20210402972
Abstract: Monitoring the brake performance of a brake system of a machine and a control systems for performing such monitoring. The machine's brake system is monitored by detecting a brake engagement for decelerating the machine. When a brake engagement is detected, a parasitic loss decelerating the machine during the brake engagement is determined. The parasitic loss is used to predict deceleration of the machine during the brake engagement Brake performance of the brake system of the machine is processed from the predicted deceleration.

  • Publication number: 20170120884
Abstract: A brake wear analysis system is presented for use within a work machine. The brake wear analysis system includes a brake charge system as well as at least one accumulator connected to the brake charge system. The at least one accumulator operable to flow a fluid from the accumulator to a brake control valve based on an executed braking action. A change of pressure within the at least one accumulator being received by a pressure sensor connected to the brake charge system and transmitted to a brake wear analysis module within the controller of the work machine. The brake wear analysis module being configured to compare the flow of fluid from the at least one accumulator with a predetermined condition resulting in a determination of whether or not a braking mechanism of the work machine is functioning in a worn condition.
