  • Patent number: 7530797
Abstract: A variable displacement compressor including a drive shaft through which a gas passage extends between front and rear ends of the drive shaft. The gas passage is connected to a suction chamber at the rear end of the drive shaft. The drive shaft includes a first gas inlet passage, which connects the gas passage to a crank chamber through a lip seal, an oil chamber, and a thrust bearing, and a second gas inlet passage, which connects the gas passage to a central portion of the crank chamber. The drive shaft further includes a sleeve movable along the drive shaft as a swash plate inclines to adjust an open amount of the second gas inlet passage in accordance with the inclination angle of the swash plate, that is, the displacement of the compressor.

  • Publication number: 20080199328
Abstract: A suction throttle valve of a variable displacement compressor having a compressor housing includes a suction chamber, a crank chamber, an inlet, a suction passage, a valve body, a valve housing, an urging member, a valve chamber, and a communication hole. The valve body is provided for adjusting an opening area of the suction passage and movably arranged in the suction passage. The urging member urges the valve body in the direction that decreases the opening area of the suction passage. The communication hole is provided for connecting the suction chamber to the valve housing. An opening area of the communication hole is variable in accordance with the movement of the valve body. Accordingly, the opening area of the communication hole becomes maximum during the maximum displacement operation of the compressor and becomes reduced during the intermediate displacement operation of the compressor.

  • Publication number: 20080199329
Abstract: The present invention is directed to provide a device for reducing pulsation in a variable displacement compressor. The compressor is connected to an external refrigerant circuit. The device for reducing pulsation includes a flow passage and a control valve. The control valve includes a valve housing, a spool valve and a damper chamber. The spool valve has formed therethrough a flow hole. The damper chamber communicates with the flow passage adjacent to the external refrigerant circuit through the flow hole. Effective cross-sectional area and effective length of the flow hole are determined based on frequency of a specific pulsation of the refrigerant gas and volume of the damper chamber at the time of the development of the specific pulsation in such a manner that the specific pulsation is developed, resonance effect of a Helmholtz resonator takes place in the damper chamber.

  • Publication number: 20080131297
Abstract: A compressor has a suction throttle valve, which includes a suction passage, a suction port, a valve body, an urging member, a valve chamber, a first communication hole, a closing valve and a valve seat. The closing valve closes the hole of the valve body by pressure difference between the valve chamber and the suction port. The valve seat limits movement of the closing valve toward the suction port. The hole of the valve body is closed when the closing valve is in contact with the valve body, and open when the closing valve is in contact with the valve seat. A communication passage is formed in the closing valve or the valve seat, which enables communication between the hole of the valve body and the suction port when the closing valve is in contact with the valve seat.

  • Patent number: 6979182
Abstract: A piston type compressor includes a housing forming a cylinder bore. A drive shaft is supported by the housing. A cam plate is coupled to the drive shaft and is rotated by the rotation of the drive shaft. A piston is accommodated in the cylinder bore and is coupled to the cam plate. The rotation of the cam plate is converted into the reciprocating movement of the piston. In accordance with the reciprocating movement of the piston, gas is introduced into the cylinder bore, is compressed and is discharged from the cylinder bore. Compression reactive force is generated in compressing the gas by the piston, is transmitted to the housing through a compression reactive force transmission path and is received by the housing. A vibration damping member is made of a predetermined vibration damping alloy and is placed at least one location along the compression reactive force transmission path.

  • Publication number: 20050196291
Abstract: A piston compressor includes a rotary valve having a suction guide hole. A plurality of introducing passages are formed in a cylinder block to connect compression chambers to the rotary valve. The inner circumferential surface of each cylinder bore has a suction auxiliary recess, which is connected to the outlet of the corresponding introducing passage in the circumferential direction of the cylinder bore at the end of the cylinder bore facing a valve assembly. Therefore, the compressor reduces suction resistance of gas at the beginning of the suction stroke without enlarging introducing passages formed in the cylinder block.
