  • Patent number: 5968661
Abstract: A steel sheet for a heat-shrink band, which is to be thermally expanded and fitted over the outer periphery of the panel portion of a cathode ray tube, which has at least a 20% elongation at an ambient temperature and at least a 40 kg/mm.sup.2 stress of yielding point after the heating and cooling, in particular one comprised by a dual phase cold rolled steel sheet comprising a ferrite phase and a martensite phase or a cold rolled steel sheet containing a retained austenite.

  • Patent number: 5965974
Abstract: A heat-shrink band for a cathode ray tube (CRT) has a light weight, corrects the deformation of an object, such as a panel of a CRT due to the air pressure, effectively prevents implosion of the CRT, can suppress the color deviation, and in addition is excellent in formability. The method of fabricating the heat-shrink band includes a composition of cold rolled steel sheet such that the heat-shrink band offers both a high elongation characteristic at an ambient temperature and a high stress of yielding point characteristic after the heat-shrink process. The reduction of the weight of the heat-shrink band contributes to an overall reduction of the weight of the CRT.

  • Patent number: 5879217
Abstract: A cathode ray tube, comprising a front panel glass having a fluorescent screen; a glass envelope sealed with the front panel; a film having a conductive layer and an insulating layer superposed on the outer side of the front panel glass; a plurality of ground electrodes soldered on the film by using a soldering iron which has an ultrasonic wave generator; and a conductive layer connected with the ground electrodes electrically through the insulating layer, and a method for manufacture of the same.

  • Patent number: 5653837
Abstract: A method of adhering a film to a panel of a cathode-ray tube, comprised of adhering a light transmitting type functional film to the surface of a panel glass while interposing an ultraviolet ray-curable resin layer therebetween, then bringing the film into tight contact with the panel glass from the inside of one end portion toward that one end portion, then bringing the film into tight contact with the panel glass toward the other end. Further, when bringing the film into tight contact with the panel, by heating by irradiating the front surface of the panel by ultraviolet rays, the resin protruding from the periphery of the film is cured, the work process is shortened, and the handling is facilitated.

  • Patent number: 5534096
Abstract: A cathode-ray tube apparatus (CRT) including a panel glass which has been subjected to no external polishing, and an ultraviolet-curing resin layer provided on the panel glass and having a refractive index which differs from that of the panel glass by not more than 0.8%. The CRT further includes a light-transmitting film provided on the resin layer. Also disclosed is a production method which enables a reduction in the weight of a CRT and an improvement in the explosion-proof performance, which have been demanded with the realization of large-sized CRTs and flat-panel CRTs, and which also makes it possible to produce such CRTs by a simplified process and at a reduced cost.
