  • Patent number: 8381001
Abstract: A digital camera is provided with: a sub CPU started irrespective of a state of an SW group; and a main CPU and an HDMI-CPU which are started when the SW group is in an on state while stopped when the SW group is in an off state. The sub CPU repeatedly determines whether or not a wake-up command is issued from a digital television connected via an HDMI cable when the SW group is in the off state. Furthermore, the sub CPU changes the state of the SW group to the on state when a determination result relating to presence or absence of the wake-up command is updated from NO to YES. The HDMI-CPU and the main CPU that are started thereby execute a process according to a command issued from the digital television.

  • Patent number: 6418249
Abstract: An optical multiplexer/demultiplexer including an arrayed waveguide grating having a plurality of waveguides and formed at its both end with an input-side slab waveguide and an output-side slab waveguide. A reference input waveguide and correction input waveguides are provided on the input end face of the input-side slab waveguide and a plurality of output waveguides are connected to the output end face of the output-side slab waveguide. The correction input waveguide has an output end face thereof placed apart by a distance from the input end face of the input-side slab waveguide in the lengthwise direction of the slab waveguide and has an acute angle to a plane perpendicular to the optical axis of this waveguide, thus permitting an optical signal to be input at a position apart from a light-incident position for the reference input waveguide by a distance shorter than a waveguide disposition interval, thereby optimally correcting a deviation of the center wavelength of the optical signal.

  • Patent number: 6404946
Abstract: An arrayed waveguide grating type optical multiplexer/demultiplexer including an arrayed waveguide grating having a plurality of channel waveguides. Concave end faces of input-side and output-side slab waveguides are connected to opposite ends of the diffraction grating. At least one input waveguide and at least one output waveguide are connected to the other concave end faces of the input-side and output-side slab waveguides, respectively. The focal length of the output-side slab waveguide end face is longer than the focal length of the input-side slab waveguide end face. The optical multiplexer/demultiplexer has a sufficiently flat wavelength-dependent spectrum response in passing channel spacings, and helps construct an optical wavelength multiple communication system having a good signal-to-noise ratio.

  • Patent number: 5649037
Abstract: An optical waveguide component includes at least one main waveguide through which signal light and regenerating light propagate and a branch waveguide branching from the main waveguide, which are formed on the same substrate; a filter element disposed at a branch portion of these waveguides; and a plurality of reflecting elements having two reflecting faces, which are arranged in the extending direction of the branch waveguide. In the optical waveguide component, one reflecting face of the two reflecting faces is a face for reflecting the regenerating light to the filter element, and the other face is a face for reflecting the regenerating light to the direction deviating from the light axis direction of the branch waveguide, or the intervals between the reflecting elements are different from each other. This optical waveguide component enables the time-series signal processing of regenerating light to be performed accurately.

  • Patent number: 5583958
Abstract: A composite optical device has a first and second chips. The first chip has a substrate on which M pieces of optical waveguides for transmitting communication light, N pieces of optical waveguides for transmitting monitoring light and M-input/N-output star couplers are formed in an integrated form, and the second chip has a substrate on which N pieces of optical waveguides for transmitting communication light, N pieces of optical waveguides for transmitting monitoring light and N pieces of 2-input/2-output star couplers are formed in an integrated form. A first and second blocks holding optical fibers are joined respectively to the first and second chips. When the composite optical device in which the first and second blocks and the first and second chips are joined is incorporated into the optical communication system, a passive double star system is constructed. By using an MT connector instead of the first block and the first chip, a single star system can be rapidly constructed.

  • Patent number: 5414786
Abstract: An optical waveguide component which has end faces to be connected with optical fiber connectors by means of guide pins, comprises an optical waveguide component body having an optical waveguide core portion, and a resin mold cladding portion covering all the faces of the optical waveguide component body except for the end faces of the optical waveguide component body. Each end face of the resin mold portion has guide pin holes which were formed with the optical waveguide core portion being used as a positioning reference. Since the guide pin holes for connection with the optical fiber connectors are formed in the resin mold portion which, preferably has some elasticity and which covers the optical waveguide component body, the guide pin holes and a substrate are not broken even if subjected to a load after connection.
