  • Patent number: 6941239
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a method, an apparatus and a system for automatically recognizing motions and actions of moving objects such as humans, animals and machines. Measuring instruments are attached to an object under observation. The instruments measure a status change entailing the object's motion or action and to issue a signal denoting the measurements. A characteristic quantity extraction unit extracts a characteristic quantity from the measurement signal received which represents the motion or action currently performed by the object under observation. A signal processing unit for motion/action recognition correlates the extracted characteristic quantity with reference data in a database containing previously acquired characteristic quantities of motions and actions. The motion or action represented by the characteristic quantity with the highest degree of correlation is recognized and output.

  • Patent number: 6075539
Abstract: A geometric object display method and apparatus and a computer-readable storage medium storing a geometric object display process program, capable of displaying the image of a composite geometric object such that the outline of the object can be grasped by the user at an earlier stage. Composite geometric element data input from an input unit is divided into a plurality of geometric element data sets of each part by a sub-grouping unit of a computing unit. The display sequence of the sub-grouped geometric element data is scheduled by a sequence scheduling unit, and the sequenced geometric element data is output by an output unit such as a display device. The outline of a composite geometric object can be grasped at an earlier stage when only a fraction of geometric element data is displayed.

  • Patent number: 5712654
Abstract: To edit data, a plurality of automatic processes are defined. Icons representing those processes may be displayed in a library frame of a display of the data editing system. The user may then select one or more of those processes by moving the corresponding icon from the library frame to an editing frame which also displays an image representing the data to be edited. When the user edits the data, each selected automatic process monitors the relationships between the data wherein, the corresponding icon provides a visual indication of the status of the automatic process. Preferably the progress of the automatic process is indicated by changes in the appearance of the corresponding icon. A generation frame may be provided on the display so that the user can generate new processes, represented by a corresponding icon, which may then be moved to the library frame or the editing frame. Icons may be grouped to permit simultaneous selection of a group of corresponding automatic processes.

  • Patent number: 5621872
Abstract: A curved surface generated on a closed curve is expressed by an equation of a film having a physical property. The film is considered as a virtual elastic film generated on the closed curve. A curved surface is generated on the closed curve through changing the shape of the elastic film by operator's setting of both the mechanical force of the elastic film and the normal direction of the elastic film on the closed curve.

  • Patent number: 5604886
Abstract: The design work is to perform various investigation for design data while displaying it on a display screen to make subdivision and concretization thereof. Thus, the design work is a combination of a plurality of design stages in general. Accordingly, the design work is described for each design stage to improve work efficiency. Actually, a design supporting apparatus includes a device for setting the design stages clearly, a device for preserving the setting, a device for setting relation between the design stages, a device for deciding the design stages dynamically, and a device for relating the design data to the design stages for preservation thereof in addition to processing and editing function of the design data provided in the design supporting apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4956787
Abstract: An elimination work simulator has not only a difference operation processor to attain a difference between work object space data and work space data but also a product operation processor to execute a product operation therebetween. Elimination work space data outputted from the product operation processor is sequentially stored; and at least the latent data of the work object space data outputted from the difference operation processor is stored so as to minimize the amount of data to be preserved. When displaying the work object space data, an animation displaying thereof can be conducted in the same or opposite direction of the order of the work operations by appropriately using elimination work space data and work object space data.
