  • Publication number: 20170095440
Abstract: A method for treating pancreatitis that involves identifying a patient with pancreatitis and administering to the patient a daily dose of Camostat Mesilate of between about 8 to about 1300 mg/kg or an equivalent amount of or 4-(4-guan-idino-benzoyloxy) phenylacetic acid is disclosed. The dosage can be administered as a single dose or can be administered in 2, 3, 4 or more doses to achieve the daily dose. The treatment can be given for a week (7 days), a month (31 days) or several months, or for as long as the treatment provides an increased quality of life. The drug can be administered orally in an oral capsule. The methods can be conveniently used in the treatment of canine pancreatitis by measuring the serum concentration of canine pancreas-specific lipase and administering a dose of the drug when the dog has a serum concentration of about 400 ?g/L or more of canine pancreas-specific lipase.

  • Publication number: 20070032254
Abstract: A system for managing spectrum usage of co-operating wireless devices. The system comprises a plurality of co-operating wireless devices, each co-operating wireless device capable of sensing spectrum usage where the co-operating wireless device operates and of generating spectrum usage information; and a spectrum access controller communicatively coupled to each of the co-operating wireless devices, the spectrum access controller capable of receiving the spectrum usage information from each of the co-operating wireless devices and for managing spectrum allocation to the co-operating wireless devices based on the spectrum usage information.

  • Publication number: 20030022923
Abstract: The preparation and use of a protected organic aldehyde is described wherein bioavailability of the orally administered therapeutic aldehyde is improved. The protected aldehyde is prepared by reacting the aldehyde with a protecting group, for example, condensing the aldehyde chemically with a thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid. The improved bioavailability of such orally administered drugs increases the feasibility of delivering sufficient amounts of vanillin or other therapeutic organic aldehydes in vivo to prevent sickling in sickle cell anemia. Combination therapy is also described wherein a protected organic aldehyde is administered to a subject in treatment of sickle cell anemia in conjunction with one or more other drugs, such as pain killers, used in treatment of the symptoms of sickle cell anemia or sickle cell disease.

  • Patent number: 6203381
Abstract: An electrical connector includes an insulator defining an interior space for receiving therein a pin module formed by embedding conductive pins on an insert. Retention members are provided in the interior space between the insulator and the pin module including a first bound to limit the movement of the pin module in a first direction and a second bound to limit the movement of the pin module in an opposite second direction thereby effectively retaining the pin module in the insulator. The modularization of the pins received in the insulator allows the pins to be assembled into the insulator much more efficiently while the retention members effectively prevent the pin module from separating from the insulator.

  • Patent number: 6089889
Abstract: A card cartridge connector having a card ejecting mechanism comprises a housing forming a mating face and a supporting face orthogonal to the mating face. A plurality of passageways each receiving a terminal therein is defined through the housing. A pair of guiding pillars extend from traverse ends of the housing and defines a receiving space therebetween. Each supporting pillar forms a guiding groove in an inner side thereof. At least a tunnel is defined in one of the guiding pillars. A card ejecting mechanism includes an ejecting tab movably supported on a fulcrum formed on the supporting face. The ejecting tab has a biasing pad detachably supported on the mating face. A push arm is movably disposed within the tunnel and forms a head and an actuating end. The actuating end abuts a bearing portion of the ejecting tab whereby when the push rod is actuated, the biasing pad is moved away from the mating face to push an inserted card outward.

  • Patent number: 6027350
Abstract: An ejecting mechanism for use with a card cartridge connector comprises a casing integrally formed with the card cartridge connector. A push rod is movably disposed within the casing, a biasing tab is movably disposed within the housing. The biasing tab forms a mating face engaged with an actuating end of the push rod, and an ejecting face extending into a receiving slot defined within the card cartridge connector. Therefore, when the push rod is actuated, a card inserted within the receiving slot is ejected.
