    Abstract: The present invention relates to pigment and coating compositions that are used to prepare pigmented coatings that exhibit geometric metamerism or metallic flop. The inventive pigment compositions comprise a small particle size pigment, at least one flop-enhancing agent, optionally one or more pigment property enhancing compounds. The flop-enhancing agent is selected from the group consisting of a halogenated copper phthalocyanines, indanthrones or carbazole dioxazines or mixtures thereof that are unsubstituted or substituted in the benzene rings by halogen, —NR1R2, C1-C10alkyl and —X—NR1′R2′, wherein R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen, C1-C10alkyl or —X—NR1′R2′, R1′ and R2′ are independently hydrogen or C1-C10alkyl, and X is C1-C10alkylene. The pigment property enhancing compounds may be a texture improving agent, a rheology improving agent, an antiflocculating compound and a dispersibility improving compound.

The mixture contains between 30-80 mol percent of para-dimethyl DPP and 70-20 mol percent of para-dichloro DPP.
