Publication number: 20230181883Abstract: Systems and methods for treating biologic fluids are disclosed. Some disclosed embodiments may be used to filter cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from a human or animal subject, heat CSF to a target temperature, cool CSF to a target temperature, apply light treatment to CSF, separate cells via their dielectric properties, apply spiral and/or centrifugal separation, introduce additives to target particles, and/or apply combinations thereof. The method may include the steps of withdrawing fluid comprising CSF, treating the fluid, and returning a portion of the treated fluid to the subject. During operation of the system, various parameters may be modified, such as flow rate.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2023Publication date: June 15, 2023Applicant: MINNETRONIX, INC.Inventors: BLAKE HEDSTROM, SHIVANAND P. LAD, AARON MCCABE, EMILY MEYERING, JACK MONDRY, AMRITA SAWHNEY, ELIZABETH SCHEURER, MATTHEW STOLL, ABHI VASE

Patent number: 10576271Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are disclosed for optimizing patient-specific stimulation parameters for spinal cord stimulation. A patient-specific anatomical model is developed based on a pre-operative image, and a patient-specific electrical model is developed based on the anatomical model. The inputs to the electric model are chosen, and the model is used to calculate a distribution of electrical potentials within the modeled domain. Models of neural elements are stimulated with the electric potentials and used to determine which elements are directly activated by the stimulus. Information about the models inputs and which neural elements are active is applied to a cost function. Based on the value of the cost function, the inputs to the optimization process may be adjusted. Inputs to the optimization process include lead/electrode array geometry, lead configuration, lead positions, and lead signal characteristics, such as pulse width, amplitude, frequency and polarity.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2017Date of Patent: March 3, 2020Assignee: Duke UniversityInventors: Warren M. Grill, Bryan Howell, Shivanand P. Lad

Publication number: 20190105475Abstract: Systems, catheters, and methods for accessing and treating along the central nervous system are disclosed. An example system may include a system for ameliorating a symptom of bacterial meningitis in a patient. The system may include a catheter assembly having a first lumen with a distal port and a second lumen with a proximal port, said catheter being adapted to be introduced in a CSF space and said ports being spaced axially apart. A pump may be connectable between the first and second lumens to induce a flow of CSF therebetween. A filter component may be connectable between the first and second lumens. The filter component may be configured to remove one or more meningitis causing bacterial pathogen from the CSF, to thereby condition the cerebrospinal fluid.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2018Publication date: April 11, 2019Applicant: MINNETRONIX, INC.Inventors: SHIVANAND P. LAD, AARON R. MCCABE, LAURA MARIE ZITELLA VERBICK, BLAKE HEDSTROM, MATTHEW STOLL, JACK MONDRY
