  • Patent number: 7596980
Abstract: A method for forming a container half (10) from a coated steel sheet (21) is provided. Because a first planar part (27) at an outer peripheral part of a first formed body (26) provided through a first drawing step is held by a blank holder (33) during its bending to provide an L-shaped cross-section part (36) in a second drawing step, no wrinkles will develop at a vertical part (38). Because an unnecessary outer part (44) of a flange part (46) is cut off in a trimming step, the width of the flange part is narrowed. By virtue of the narrowed width, no wrinkles will develop during bending of the flange part.

  • Publication number: 20060265876
Abstract: A rim (10) is produced by a production process including a step (A) of bending a workpiece (11) to bring end faces of the workpiece into contact with each other, a step (B) of forming a circular cylinder body (12) by joining the end faces brought to be in contact with each other, a step (C) of inspecting a joint portion (13) of the circular cylinder body (12), a step (D) of forming a drop portion (16), subsiding toward the inner peripheral wall (15) side, in an outer peripheral wall (14) of the circular cylinder body (12), a by bending both end portions of the circular cylinder body (12), a step (F) of forming hump portions (20) by pressing the circular cylinder body (12) from the inner peripheral wall (15) side to raise the outer peripheral wall (14), and a step (G) for forming a valve hole (22) and water drain holes (24) in the drop portion (16) and the curl portions (18). The rim (10) and a disk (102) that is separately produced are welded to form a wheel (122).

  • Publication number: 20040244197
Abstract: Both ends of a metal cylindrical member are formed with rectangular cross section normal curls which are doubly bent in the radial direction of the cylindrical member by plastic working. With this, it is possible to form a rim directly from the cylindrical member and to easily produce a two-piece wheel. A barrel of the metal cylindrical member (2) is subjected to drop center portion working. Then, both ends (3) of the cylindrical member (2) are expanded by plastic working, and the expanded ends (3) are formed into normal curls (4) having rectangular cross sections by normal curl working (method 1). Alternatively, the expanded ends (3) are formed into curls (4) having circular cross sections by curl working, and the curls (4) are finished to a normal shape having a rectangular cross section by shaping and precision-enhancing working (method 2).

  • Patent number: 6261391
Abstract: The present invention disclosed is an aluminum alloy plate for super plastic molding capable of cold pre-molding before super plastic molding. The alloy plate comprises Mg at from 2.0 to 8.0% (weight %, the same shall apply hereinafter) Be at from 0.0001 to 0.01%, at least one of Mn at from 0.3 to 2.5%, Cr at from 0.1 to 0.5%, Zr at from 0.1 to 0.5% and V at from 0.1 to 0.5%. Additionally, the alloy plate may comprise an Fe amount and an Si amount each within a range of 0.0 to 0.2%; amounts of Na and Ca within ranges of 3 ppm or less and 5 ppm or less, respectively; while the remainder of the alloy plate consists of Al and inevitable impurities. The resulting alloy plate a crystalline structure is a non-recrystallized crystal structure; the 90° critical bending radius is 7.5 times the plate thickness or less; and the yield strength ratio before and after the final annealing is 70% or more. The invention also discloses production methods for the alloy plate.

  • Patent number: 5553474
Abstract: An apparatus for shaping a workpiece of a super-plastic metal has a shaping die assembly for holding the workpiece therein to shape the workpiece with a pressurized gas while the workpiece is being heated, and a furnace assembly surrounding outer surfaces of the dies. The shaping die assembly includes a plurality of dies separable from and joinable to each other, the dies having flanges extending from mating surfaces thereof. The furnace assembly includes a plurality of furnaces separable from and joinable to each other, the furnaces being detachably mounted on the dies, respectively. The shaping die assembly is housed in the furnace assembly with the flanges projecting out of the furnace assembly when the dies are joined to each other. Heaters for heating the shaping die assembly are mounted on inner wall surfaces of the furnaces in a space defined between the furnace assembly and the shaping die assembly.

  • Patent number: 4985993
Abstract: A method for producing a wheel rim of an automotive vehicle comprising the steps of supporting a cylindrical body on a vertical axis between an upper punch attached to an upper mold and a lower punch attached to a lower mold; fitting a side die to an outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical body, with the cylindrical body supported; then lowering the upper punch together with the upper mold to insert the upper punch into an upper portion of the cylindrical body and to form the upper end portion of the cylindrical body into the flange portion by press forming between the upper punch and the side die; thereafter releasing the cylindrical body from the supported state at its lower end surface; and further lowering the upper punch together with the side die and the cylindrical body to insert the lower punch into a lower portion of the cylindrical body and to form the lower end portion of the cylindrical body into the flange portion by press forming between the lower punch and the side die, whereby the working

  • Patent number: 4982891
Abstract: A method and a system for forming a rod-like member into a three-dimensional frame structure, involving a work feed station for individually feeding a rod-like member, a bending station for bending the rod-like member having a prescribed length into a two-dimensional frame structure, a welding station for welding two mutually abutting ends of the two-dimensional frame structure of the rod-like member; and a forming station for plastically forming the two-dimensional frame structure into a three-dimensional frame structure. Typically, the two dimensional structure comprises a loop structure formed by joining two opposite ends of the rod-like member by welding, and the rod-like member consists of a pipe member. Thus, by welding the mutually abutting parts of the rod-like member together when it is formed into a two-dimensional frame, retaining the rod-like member for the welding is simplified as it involves the retaining of the rod-like member against its positional variations only in one direction.
