Patent number: 9701142Abstract: A small, compact multifunction printing device provides excellent ease of use with little possibility of slips and continuous paper jamming inside. The multifunction printer has a check processing unit and a continuous paper processing unit. The check processing unit has a U-shaped check conveyance path P1 that opens to the front of the printer and enables handling slips to be processed and the processed slips from the front of the printer. A continuous paper conveyance path P2 that conveys continuous paper fed from a paper roll in the roll paper compartment from the back to the front of the printer is formed on the inside of the check conveyance path P1, enabling replacing roll paper and removing processed continuous paper from the front. The conveyance paths P1 and P2 are independent of each other, the printing positions thereof are separated, and conveyed slips and continuous paper will not interfere with each other.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2016Date of Patent: July 11, 2017Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventors: Toshiyuki Sasaki, Yoshiki Kinoshita, Shogo Mizuyama

Patent number: 9324009Abstract: A media processing device enables reading second media that do not bend easily from the device front with the same ease of use as processing first media that bend easily. The media processing device has a media conveyance path that guides first media inserted from a media insertion opening toward the back and then again toward the front on the front-back axis to the media exit. A straight conveyance path that angles to the inside on the device width axis is formed at a part connected to the media exit, and a second media insertion path that extends straight to the front from the straight conveyance path is connected to the media exit.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2015Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: SEIKO EPSON CORPORATIONInventors: Toshiyuki Sasaki, Shogo Mizuyama

Patent number: 8720885Abstract: A form conveyance device can reverse a form without pulling another form already stored in a storage unit into the conveyance path. A form conveyance device conveys a form on edge in forward and reverse directions and feeds the form into the storage unit. Such device includes a cylindrical support shaft, and a paper feed roller that is axially supported on the support shaft and can rotate in forward and reverse directions. Also included is an in-feed roller that is axially supported on the support shaft, can rotate only in the forward direction, and on the outside surface has in-feed tabs extending in the axial direction. A power transfer unit of the device is disposed between the paper feed roller and in-feed roller, and transfers drive power from the paper feed roller to the in-feed roller only when the paper feed roller rotates in the forward direction.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2013Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventor: Shogo Mizuyama

Patent number: 8109502Abstract: An open/close mechanism of a media feed path for feeding a sheet medium from a media insertion unit allowing for a reduced parts count and minimal installation space is disclosed. In an embodiment, an open/close lever and paper pressure member of a check feeding device pivot horizontally on first and second vertical support shafts. When the pressure member pivots and presses against the delivery roller, the back end of the lever is pushed by the pressure member, pivoting the lever thereby retracting the front end of the lever from the check feed path. Because the lever is urged in a pivot direction causing the front end to enter the check feed path, when the paper pressure member returns to the position not pressed against the delivery roller, the open/close lever pivots in this urging direction returning to the position where the front end closes the check feed path.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2010Date of Patent: February 7, 2012Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventor: Shogo Mizuyama

Publication number: 20100213659Abstract: An open/close mechanism of a media feed path for feeding a sheet medium from a media insertion unit can be rendered with a small parts count without requiring a large installation space. An open/close lever 27 and paper pressure member 26 of a check feeding device 9 can pivot horizontally on a first vertical support shaft 32 and a second vertical support shaft 33. When the paper pressure member 26 is caused to pivot and press against the delivery roller 25, the back end part 27b of the open/close lever 27 is pushed by the paper pressure member 26, the open/close lever 27 pivots, and the front end part 27a thereof retracts from the check feed path 23.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2010Publication date: August 26, 2010Applicant: SEIKO EPSON CORPORATIONInventor: Shogo Mizuyama
