Abstract: An optical disk playing apparatus capable of reproducing information recorded on an optical disk includes a system controller. The system controller obtains an address of a navigation pack corresponding to a user's request with respect to a data having video data of still picture and audio data recorded on the optical disk, determines whether or not the obtained navigation pack has the video data of still picture, reproduces, on the basis of a predetermined information included in the obtained navigation pack, a video data of still picture which is corresponding to a head address of a preceding video object when the obtained navigation pack does not have the video data of still picture, and reproduces an audio data of the address of the navigation pack corresponding to the user's request.

Abstract: A remote control signal receiver receives a remote control signal in which bit signals are included as pulse signals. The remote control signal receiver includes a remote control signal receiving portion that receives a remote control signal, and a microcomputer. The microcomputer detects a change in a logic level of pulsed signals in the remote control signal, detects a pulse period and a pulse width of the pulse signals of the remote control signal, and determines whether there is an error in the remote control signal based on the detected pulse period and the pulse width of the pulse signals of the remote control signal. It is possible to detect an error in a remote control signal received by the remote control signal receiver.

Abstract: An interrupt recognition unit recognizes that an interrupt occurs at the time of detecting a valid level change of a signal sent from a remote controller, and a port determination unit directly determines a signal level of a port at the time of recognizing that the interrupt occurs by the interrupt recognition unit. An interrupt processing unit accepts the interrupt to perform normal receiving processing when the signal level directly determined by the port determination unit is valid. On the other hand, the interrupt processing unit performs processing of ignoring the interrupt when the signal level is invalid.

Abstract: A game apparatus includes a CPU, and the CPU executes a game process. When a player character encounters an enemy character in a game world, a battle screen is displayed on a monitor. On the battle screen, an instruction image according to an operation timing pattern recorded in correspondence to the enemy character is displayed, and a background music (BGM) according to the pattern is output from a speaker. A player weights an operation timing by the instruction image and a tune of the BGM (drum part). In a case of a degree of coincidence between the operation timing by the player and a timing of the pattern is high, a damage which the player character applies to the enemy character and an experienced value to be obtained by the player character increases.
