Abstract: A storage system includes: N pieces of storages that stores electronic information, N being an integral number that is two or more; and a controller that obtains electronic information to be written, wherein the controller, in a case where the electronic information to be written is a first kind of electronic information, divides the electronic information to be written into N pieces, and independently writes the divided electronic information into each of the N pieces of storage, and the controller, in the electronic information to be written is a second kind of electronic information, redundantly writes the electronic information to be written into each of the N pieces of storage.

Abstract: A hard disk drive controller including a determining unit that determines an external dimension of a hard disk drive that is provided with a motor for rotating a hard disk and a head that is retractable from the hard disk; and a changing unit that changes control of the hard disk drive device according to the external dimension that has been determined by the determining unit. An image forming apparatus is also disclosed which includes the determining unit, the changing unit, and an energy saving shifting unit that shifts the image forming apparatus into an energy saving mode in certain conditions which have been determined in advance. Abstract: A fault diagnosis apparatus are installed and used in information equipment. The information equipment has a disk drive and a vibration source that causes vibrations or being subject to vibrations from an external vibration source. The apparatus has a measuring unit and a diagnosis unit. The measuring unit performs a measurement for a functional operation in the disk drive under a condition that the vibrations are occurred. The diagnosis unit performs a fault diagnosis based on a measurement result by the measuring unit.
