  • Publication number: 20030039532
Abstract: A method of automatically feeding a part (4) having a through-hole to an intended place comprises the steps: disposing a feed rod (6) capable of advancing toward an intended place to which the part (4) is to be fed, said feed rod (6) consisting of a slide rod (16) of larger diameter and a guide rod (17) of smaller diameter, said guide rod (17) retractably projecting beyond the front end of the slide rod (16); provisionally holding the part (4) in a predetermined position on the advance/retraction axis of the feed rod (6); advancing the feed rod (6) to cause the guide rod (17) to pierce through the though-hole (10) in the part (4) so as to feed the part (4) to said intended place; and detecting, when relative displacement of the guide rod (17) with respect to the slide rod (16) occurs during the advance of the feed rod (6), such relative displacement and issuing a signal.

  • Patent number: 6163004
Abstract: When a projection nut is brought into an intended position, in order that welding may be completed with the nut kept at accurate posture and the nut fed in correct position, a recess (21) is formed at the leading end of a feed rod (20), the feed rod (20) is moved back in a direction almost orthogonal to the axial line of an electrode, and when the feed rod (20) is stopped, a guide pin (13) of an electrode (11) gets into a screw hole (26) of a projection nut (25), and then the feed rod (20) is restored to determine the position of the nut (25), then the other electrode (19) advances to complete the welding.

  • Patent number: 6008463
Abstract: In an electrode for welding with a retractable guide pin so received in a guide hole of the electrode that air blows out from a gap between the guide hole and the guide pin as the guide pin is pushed in to prevent intervention of foreign matters between an end face of an electrode and a steel sheet part or at a sliding portion of the guide pin, a large-diameter hole (33) and a small-diameter hole (34) are provided at a portion through which passes a small-diameter portion (7) of the guide pin (6) so as to form a receiving face (35) with the difference in diameter between the two, and an exhaust passage is provided near the receiving face (35) to establish communication between the large-diameter hole (33) and outside of the electrode.

  • Patent number: 5798494
Abstract: A retractable feeding rod is located in a guide cylinder. A workpiece retaining pipe is connected to a leading end of the guide cylinder which serves as a movable electrode and a feed-in passage for a workpiece positioned at an acute angle to the guide cylinder. It opens within the guide cylinder and a control surface is provided for appropriately regulating the advancing speed of the workpiece in an end or in the middle of a passage through which the workpiece is fed to the guide cylinder to prevent the guide cylinder from being damaged or worn by the workpiece that impacts the guide cylinder at a high speed.

  • Patent number: 5705784
Abstract: An electrode for electric resistance welding comprises a guide hole of a circular cross-section composed of a small-diameter hole and a large-diameter hole, a guide pin composed of a small-diameter portion and a large-diameter portion, the small-diameter portion and larger-diameter portion of the guide pin being fitted into the small-diameter hole and large-diameter hole of the guide hole, respectively, so that when the guide pin is pushed down, compressed air is allowed to jet out of a gap between the small-diameter hole and the small-diameter portion. The large-diameter portion of the guide pin is firmly fitted into the guide hole, with an air passage formed in the outer circumference of the large-diameter portion and the end surface of the large-diameter portion seated on the inner end surface of the large-diameter hole.

  • Patent number: 5638940
Abstract: In a device for conveying parts delivered from a parts feeder by air ejection, a part detection sensor (22) is installed near an air nozzle (12) disposed in a send-out passage (5), and vibratory motion of the parts feeder is stopped while air is ejected from the air nozzle (12) in response to a part detection signal transmitted by the parts detection sensor (22), ensuring that an excessive number of parts are not accummulated for the conveying ability of the air ejection.

  • Patent number: 5557841
Abstract: This invention provides an arrangement wherein members, such as a guide tube, feed rod, air cylinders, and parts feeding control unit, which perform the parts feeding function, are supported with good balance to ensure that a part is inserted in a receiving hole in a mating part, for example a hole in a movable electrode, accurately and with high reliability. The basic arrangement comprises a guide tube 1 joined to the lower side 16 of a base plate 14, an air cylinder 29 attached to the upper side 19 of the base plate 14, and a stationary member 31 to which the air cylinder is firmly joined.

  • Patent number: 5508488
Abstract: This invention is intended to secure a fused area which is as large as possible in fixing a flanged bolt in position by projection welding. A welding method characterized by forming a flange 3 with a flat bulge 4 having a crest 5 and enlarging the melting starting at the crest 5 throughout the bulge while pressing the crest 5 against a mating member 7. And the flange and the mating member are strongly clamped between a fixed electrode 6 and a movable electrode 8. As for the shape of the bulge, it may be tapered, spherical or the like. Further, the diameter of the bulge 4 is set so that it is greater than the diameter of the bolt stem 2.
