    Abstract: The teachings provided herein are directed to compounds and methods for detecting nerve agents using rhodamine-derived detection compounds. A rhodamine-derived detection compound for nerve agents can include any rhodamine derivative that can bind to a nerve agent and produce a detectable signal for detection of the nerve agent. In some embodiments, the rhodamine-derived detection compound comprises rhodamine B-hydroxamate and the nerve agent can be detected in amounts as low as about 10 ppm.
