  • Publication number: 20050018939
Abstract: To reduce the weight of the wheel support bearing assembly without sacrificing the strength, the wheel support bearing assembly for rotatably supporting a vehicle wheel relative to a vehicle body structure includes a hub axle (2) formed with a radially outwardly extending hub flange (12). This hub flange (12) has an inner peripheral portion and a remaining wall portion other than the inner peripheral portion, and the remaining wall portion thereof is constituted by a plurality of radially outwardly extending ribs (13) each formed with a bolt insertion hole (14). The hub axle (2) also includes a brake pilot area (16) extending outwardly from an outboard face of the hub flange (12) for guiding an inner peripheral surface of the brake rotor (41). At least the root diameter (D1) of at least an inboard face of each rib (13) is chosen to be equal to or smaller than the outer diameter (D2) of the brake pilot area (16).

  • Patent number: 5918736
Abstract: A cigarette packet includes a closable compartment for housing fresh cigarettes and a closable housing within the package containing a plurality of fire-extinguishing members. These members are positioned within the housing and are attached to the package. Each of these members is made from a flame resistant and fire-extinguishing material and has a shape in which a burning end of a cigarette butt may be inserted to extinguish the butt. In one preferred embodiment of the invention, the members are removable caps housed in the lid of the flip-top type lid of the package with the caps adhering to and sealing the end of the cigarette when extinguished thereagainst.

  • Patent number: 5894144
Abstract: In a semiconductor acceleration sensor, a weight and thin beam parts adjacent to the weight are formed on a substrate, a moving electrode is formed on the weight, and a fixed electrode is formed at a position of the other substrate opposed to the moving electrode. Both the electrodes come in contact with each other and conduct as a result of acceleration on the weight, whereby the semiconductor acceleration sensor operates. The fixed electrode or the moving electrode is formed with a projection toward the opposed electrode and the projection and the electrode come in contact with each other and conduct by action of acceleration with a predetermined spacing held between both the electrodes for preventing occurrence of chattering caused by the electrostatic attraction force between both the electrodes.

  • Patent number: 5866817
Abstract: A small-sized, reliable, low-cost acceleration sensor includes a working mechanism having a large joint surface. In this respect, an acceleration sensor 1 is arranged so that a diaphragm portion 2D is formed on a (100) face of a plate of single crystal silicon. The four corner portions of the joint surface 2A of a square frame are expanded in the center direction of the plate of single crystal silicon so as to form expanded portions 2B. Moreover, the (100) face of the square plate of single crystal silicon is covered with a mask having at least an octagonal opening 10E before being subjected to anisotropic etching, so that the expanded portions 2B directed to the center portion are formed in the respective four corner portions of the plate of single crystal silicon.

  • Patent number: 5560757
Abstract: An exhaust particulate filter for a diesel engine which is high in collecting efficiency of exhaust particulates and small in pressure loss, by using a felt-like body having pores of an optimum inner diameter between heat resistant inorganic lengthy fibers. Wire nets (31) formed of heat resistant metal are put upon both upper and lower surfaces of felt-like body (32), which are arrested from both the surfaces thereof by heat resistant yarn (33), the felt-like body (32) being configured such that heat resistant inorganic lengthy fibers cut into a predetermined length are irregularly oriented in a horizontal direction and laminated, to which needles are applied, and the inorganic lengthy fibers are vertically entangled.
