    Abstract: An air conditioner has a refrigeration system comprising by a compressor, a reversing valve, an indoor heat exchanger, an expansion device and an outdoor heat exchanger which are connected in series to form a closed system, a bypass pipe equiped with a two-way valve, connected in parallel with the outdoor heat exchanger between the delivery side of the compressor and the refrigerant inlet side of the outdoor heat exchanger. An outdoor blower is provided for the outdoor heat exchanger. The two-way valve is adapted to permit hot refrigerant gas delivered by the compressor to be recirculated through the outdoor heat exchanger thereby effecting defrosting of the outdoor heat exchanger.
