  • Patent number: 7070139
Abstract: The reel unit of a dual-bearing reel includes a frame, first and second side covers, an operating lever, and guard members. The frame has first and second side plates and a connection member. The first side cover, to which the handle is mounted, is mounted to the first side plate. The second side cover is mounted to the second side plate in an inclined manner such that a fore end of the second side cover is closer to the second side plate. The operating lever is provided on the second side plate protruding inward from the second side plate. The second side cover is locked in a closed state when the operation portion assumes a second position, while the operation portion allows the second side cover to be opened and closed relative to the second side plate when the operation portion assumes a first position.

  • Publication number: 20050028422
Abstract: A rod clamp is fixedly coupled to a reel body with bolt members. The rod clamp includes a retaining portion that is curved so that a portion of the outer periphery of a fishing rod contacts with the retaining portion, a first fixing portion and a second fixing portion that are respectively arranged on both sides of the retaining portion, and cut-outs that are formed in both sides of the retaining portion. Each of the first and second fixing portions has a through hole to which the bolt members are detachably and fixedly coupled. The cut outs respectively communicate with the through holes. Portions of the head portions of the bolt members can be partially inserted in the cut-outs when the bolt members are coupled to the through holes. With this invention, it is possible to reliably attach a rod clamp to a reel unit that has a small frame width.

  • Patent number: 6464159
Abstract: Paint-coated fishing component formed with recesses in which build-up of paint in the recesses is unlikely. A reel body (1) made of a magnesium alloy painted by electrodeposition includes a first side cover (6a) and a second side cover mounted to the sides of a frame. The first side cover (6a) is fastened by attaching screws (30) from the inner side of a first side plate (7a) to a plurality of protrusion portions (20) formed protruding on a rear surface. The protrusion portions (20) are provided with conduits (25) communicating recess portions formed with female threads to the immediate exterior. The conduits (25) are slits that are formed in the protrusion direction of the protrusions (20) or perpendicular to the protrusion direction, and are cut with a T-slot cutter, for example.
