  • Patent number: 11516356
Abstract: In a normal mode that is a mode when a user performs a printing work, a wireless operation unit shifts to a second mode when the wireless operation unit is not operated for a first predetermined time in a first mode. In a maintenance mode when a repairman performs a maintenance work, the wireless operation unit does not shift to the second mode even if the wireless operation unit is not operated for the first predetermined time in the first mode. In addition, in the maintenance mode, if the remaining amount of a battery is equal to or greater than a predetermined amount in the first mode, the wireless operation unit does not shift to the second mode, and if the remaining amount of the battery is less than the predetermined amount, the wireless operation unit shifts to the second mode.

  • Patent number: 10509507
Abstract: If a user operates a touch panel, a display device notifies the user of a factor of change into a state in which a touch operation has been accepted to restore a state in which a normal touch operation is accepted. The display device monitors coordinate information output from the touch panel, and if it is determined that an operation disabled area located in a first touch panel area excluding the position of an assigned key has entered a state of being designated and a second touch panel area has entered a state of being designated, displays, on a display screen, that the operation disabled area has been designated. The display device thereby notifies the user that operations are not accepted because of a touch operation.

  • Patent number: 8789137
Abstract: When a data processing device is disconnected from a computer system after mutual authentication has been completed between the computer system and the data processing device, the data processing device cancels an authenticated state, and is not able to transfer data to a device other than a specific computer system. Therefore, even when the data processing device is connected to a device other than the specific computer system after the connection of a cable supporting hot swapping has been changed, the data processing device maintains the confidentiality of data.

  • Patent number: 8452045
Abstract: A character area is detected in a reduced layout and a character is detected in the character area, and a character size is compared to a predetermined size readable by a user when characters are printed. A detected character size determined to be smaller than the predetermined size is enlarged. An object adjacent to the detected character in an original document is detected and a content of the objects is determined. A layout position in which a relationship between the enlarged detected characters and the objects is kept is determined according to the determined content and the enlarged characters are arranged. The whole document can be output automatically in an easily viewable state while keeping a meaningful layout relationship between the objects.

  • Publication number: 20120257247
Abstract: An image forming apparatus operable in a first power mode and a second power mode. The image forming apparatus includes a communication unit configured to communicate with an external apparatus, a control unit configured to be communicably connected to the communication unit to process data transmitted from the communication unit, and a power control unit configured to control power supply to the communication unit. While the image forming apparatus is in the first power mode where power is supplied to the control unit and the communication unit, the control unit determines whether to shift the image forming apparatus to the second power mode, based on a communication state between the communication unit and the external apparatus. The power control unit performs control to stop power supply to the communication unit based on the determination made by the control unit, and shifts the image forming apparatus to the second power mode.
