    Abstract: The present invention is a semiconductor nanoparticle composed of a semiconductor crystal of a compound containing Ag, Au and S as essential constitutional elements. A AgAuS-based compound constituting the semiconductor nanoparticle has a total content of Ag, Au and S of 95 mass % or more. In addition, the compound is preferably a AgAuS ternary compound represented by the general formula Ag(nx)Au(ny)S(nz). In the formula, n is any positive integer. x, y and z represent proportions of the number of atoms of the respective atoms of Ag, Au and S in the compound and are real numbers satisfying 0<x, y, z?1, and x/y is 1/7 or more and 7 or less.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a rotatable image bearing member, a developing member, a transfer member, and a brush contacting a surface of the image bearing member in a contact portion downstream of a transfer portion and upstream of a developing portion with respect to a rotational direction of the image bearing member. The toner which is not transferred onto a toner image receiving member is collected by the developing member. In a charging series, the toner is positioned on the same side as a normal charge polarity of the toner relative to the brush. In the contact portion, a maximum value of a contact pressure of 0.7 gf/mm2 or more and 3.5 gf/mm2 or less, a maximum contact area ratio is 18% or more and 74% or less, and a Clark-Evans index of the brush is 1 or more.

An observing mechanism includes a light source part and an image pickup part which are arranged at a separation position away from an attachment portion in the outer wall of the chamber. Thus, the light source part and the image pickup part become less susceptible to an effect of heat generated by the heater. In other words, it is possible to prevent the reduction in the observation accuracy due to an effect of temperature change.
