  • Patent number: 6577410
Abstract: A multiple resolution scanning device, comprising: a lens group, having a light source for illuminating the scanned object; at least two lenses of different resolutions; and a detector group, having for each of the lenses a corresponding detector. The lenses generate images of the scanned object that are focused on the corresponding detectors. The at least two lenses generate images from different scanned areas, so that the lenses generate images of the scanned object from different locations.

  • Patent number: 6283789
Abstract: A data and power transmitting cable system that includes a first cable conforming to the USB or IEEE1394 standard. The first cable has a power supply wire and several data transmission wires and is plugged into a first port. The first cable provides for transmission of power and data. The system also includes at least one second cable, following the same standard. The second cable includes only power supply wires, with no data transmission wires. The second cable is plugged into a second port, allowing for transmission of additional power.

  • Patent number: 6075584
Abstract: A multiple-resolution scanner for scanning a scanned object at one of several resolutions, comprising: a scanning device, having a mirror group, a lens group, and a detector group; and a switching device. The mirror group has several mirrors for transmitting light from the scanned object along several light paths that are separate from each other. The lens group has several lenses, which are separately placed in each of the light paths and generate images of the scanned object at the positions of several detectors of the detector group. The number of the light paths, lenses and detectors is the same. The detectors generate electrical signals, which are fed into the switching device for further processing and switching between the electrical signals of the detectors electronically.

  • Patent number: 5995244
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multiple resolution page scanner, having a base, a main body and a feeding path between the base and the main body for transporting a sheet to be scanned in a longitudinal direction therethrough by a transport mechanism, the main body having several mirrors, the multiple resolution page scanner further having an illuminating system for illuminating the sheet, when it passes through the feeding path, with an image of the sheet projected towards the mirrors, passing one of at least two mirror groups, one of at least two lenses of different optical resolutions and reaching a detector, wherein various optical resolutions are attained by alternatively bringing one of the at least two lenses and one of the at least two mirror groups into the light path.

  • Patent number: 5959746
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lighting system for a scanning device, emitting light for illuminating a longitudinally extended scanned area, with the light being reflected from the scanned area, travelling along a light path and reaching a detector, the lighting system comprising: at least two illuminating tubes, parallel to the scanned area, longitudinally covering the scanned area, while overlapping each other longitudinally, and being placed on different sides of the light path, such that the scanned area is completely illuminated; and at least two supports, each of the supports accommodating one of the illuminating tubes; wherein the illuminating tubes have small lengths and diameters, allowing for a compact setup, yet the scanned area is illuminated completely, such that a complete image of the scanned area is transmitted to the detector.

  • Patent number: 5903001
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multiple-resolution image scanning apparatus, comprising: a main body with at least one carrier for accommodating an object of one of several data types to be scanned; and a scanning system, installed in the main body and movable parallel to the carrier. The scanning system further comprises: a detector; a light source for illuminating the object; at least two imaging systems with lenses and mirror groups, which alternatively generate an image of an object on the detector at different resolutions and with different light paths; and a switching system, which moves the imaging systems and the detector relative to each other into reading positions, wherein in each of the reading positions the image is generated on the detector by one of the imaging systems. This allows to scan objects of different data types.
