    Abstract: [Problem] To provide a two-stage switch which has few components, can be made thin, and can obtain a clear clicking sense. [Solution] A two-stage switch (10) is provided with a click dome plate (20) having a movable contact, a keypad (30) joined to the upper surface of the dome of the dome plate (20), and a fixed contact (41) formed on a substrate (40). The fixed contact (41) comprises a first stage fixed contact (42) and second stage fixed contact (43). When the keypad (30) is not being subjected to a pressing operation, the dome plate (20) is in a floating state without contacting any of the fixed contacts. With a first stage pressing operation on the keypad (30), the pad (30) is deformed and the dome plate (20) comes into contact with the first stage fixed contact (42). With a second stage pressing operation on the keypad (30), the dome plate (20) deforms with a clicking sensation and comes into contact with the second stage fixed contact (43).

    Abstract: An electrical contact (1) that comprises a core body (3) made from elasticmaterial and having outer, inner and side surfaces, a metal mesh layer (5) extending to the outer and sidesurfaces of the core body (3) and a bonding layer (7) covering the edge of the metal mesh layer (5) at the side surface of the core body (3). Since the metal mesh layer (5) is provided to the outer surface (contact surface) of the core body (3), the outer surface comes in contact with the other contact surface with a number of contact points. By providing the bonding layer (7), the edge (cut surface) of the metal mesh (5) is rarely exposed to air and the rusting which occurs easily at the edge can be prevented. And, the bonding layer (7) has a function for preventing the key top material from coming into around the outer surface of the electrical contact at the process for attaching the contact (1) to the key top.

The rubber switch is provided with a push-button portion having an upper surface pushed down by the working portion of the operation knob and an under surface formed with a movable contact; and a skirt portion extending obliquely downward from an edge of the push-button portion. The skirt portion has a thinner portion on the side of the pivot point of the operation knob and a thicker portion on the opposite side of the pivot point. The push-button portion has an upper surface inclined upward toward the side of the pivot point. The switch has advantages such as simple structure, reliable conduction, and excellent click feeling.
