  • Patent number: 6819357
Abstract: A camera includes: a zoom lens, having a first zoom mechanism, for photographing an image of an object; a focal length setting device which controls the zoom mechanism to set a focal length of the zoom lens; and a electronic monitoring device for visually displaying the object image. The electronic monitoring device displays the object image which corresponds to the focal length set by the focal length setting device at all times. The focal length setting device actuates the zoom mechanism to set the focal length of the zoom lens at a set focal length only at the time immediately before a photographing operation is carried out.

  • Patent number: 6133951
Abstract: A still-video camera has an image receiving unit (CCD) on which an image of an object to be recorded or an image of a data symbol is formed. The data symbol indicates information corresponding to a photography mode of the still-video camera. When the data symbol is read by the still-video camera, the photographing leses are moved to a position corresponding to macrophotography mode, and thus the photography mode indicated by the data symbol is read by the still-video camera. Then, the photographing lens system is moved to a position corresponding to the photography mode designated by the data symbol, so that photography is carried out in accordance with the photography mode.

  • Patent number: 5619260
Abstract: A still-video camera has a white balance adjustment device. The white balance adjustment device includes a filter film which has a translucent opal filter portion and a transparent filter portion. The filter film is moved by a motor. During a white balance adjustment, the translucent opal filter portion is positioned in front of a first CCD, and in an image recording operation, the transparent filter portion is positioned in front of the first CCD. When the white balance adjustment is to be carried out, an output signal from a second CCD is transmitted to an AF control circuit, and thus an AF adjustment is also performed. The AF adjustment is carried out in such a manner that a spatial frequency of the output signal of the second CCD has a highest value.

  • Patent number: 5606716
Abstract: A data regenerating device includes a connecting device for connecting the data regenerating device to an external device. The data regeneration device regenerates data which has been stored in a predetermined recording medium arranged to be adapted to the data regenerating device in a predetermined manner via the external device. The data regenerating device comprises a judging component for judging whether the external device is able to receive the data to be regenerated and an inhibiting component for inhibiting a predetermined data processing for the data regenerating operation when it is judged by the judging component that the external device is not able to receive the data. Therefore, it becomes possible to prevent electrical power required for operating the data regenerating device from being undesirably spent and also prevent a regenerating head provided within the data regenerating device and the video floppy disk from being undesirably worn away.

  • Patent number: 5550587
Abstract: A white balance adjusting device has a white balance sensor for sensing a color temperature and an image-object distance sensing mechanism. The image-object distance sensing mechanism senses the image-object distance using a CCD by which the object image is sensed. The image frame is sub-divided into a plurality of sectors, and the image-object distance is sensed for each sensor. The white balance adjustment is performed by changing coefficients corresponding to the color temperature of the ambient daylight and the flash of light. For a sector in which the image-object distance is short, since the effect of the electronic flash is large, the coefficient corresponding to the color temperature of the flash of light is set to a high value. For a sector in which the image-object distance is long, since the effect of the electronic flash is small, the coefficient of the color temperature of the flash of light is set to a low value.
