  • Patent number: 11792530
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus which reduces the time required to achieve correct exposure while reducing deterioration of an aperture and changes in the exposure of an image. A correct exposure is calculated from a subject brightness. A setting value of the aperture is discretely calculated from the correct exposure. A first target value is calculated from a present value of the aperture and the correct exposure. A second target value closer to the setting value than the first target value, is calculated from the present value of the aperture, correct exposure, and first target value. While the aperture is driven to reach the second target value from the first target value, shutter speed and/or gain is changed. The aperture is driven at a first drive speed to reach the first target value and then driven at a second drive speed to reach the second target value.
