  • Patent number: 11892877
Abstract: An information handling system camera is secured against unauthorized image captures by a shutter that mechanically closes across the camera lens to block visible light from entering the camera. The shutter integrates an infrared bypass filter that passes through infrared light while blocking visible light so that the camera can support facial recognition when the mechanical shutter secures the camera to prevent unauthorized capture of visual images.

  • Publication number: 20240039193
Abstract: A card connector corresponding to a first card type associated with a plurality of electrical contacts for receiving cards corresponding to various card types, each card type associated with a set of electrical contacts fewer than, more than or the same number of electrical contacts as the first card type. An elongated body may be formed with a closed end and an open end. A cap may be positioned on the open end to configure the card connector in a closed configuration to support cards of a card type associated with fewer or the same number of electrical contacts. The cap may be removed to configure the card connector in an open configuration to support cards associated with more electrical contacts. The cap may have PCB connectors for positioning the cap a distance from the elongated body to configure the card connector in an augmented open configuration.

  • Patent number: 9201663
Abstract: A computer system and a remote control method for a computer device are provided. The computer system includes a computer device and a remote device. The computer device includes a network communication unit and an ID table. Before the computer device enters into a power-saving state, the computer device reads an ID code of the network communication unit and searches the ID table according to the ID code to obtain a particular packet format type. The computer device sends an agreement packet including a message of the particular packet format type to notify the remote device. The computer device receives a response packet from the remote device for setting a packet receiving procedure and enters into the power-saving state. When the computer device receives a wake-up packet compliant with the packet receiving procedure from the remote device, the computer device returns to a normal operation state.

  • Publication number: 20130238760
Abstract: Management methods for use in a computer system including a wireless module and a processing unit which are turned off are provided. The wireless module is activated to scan at least on access point (AP) to obtain a scanning result during each count period, the processing unit being turned off during performing scanning. Thereafter, the wireless module determines whether to activate the processing unit to wake up the computer system to download update data from a network according to scanning result and predetermined setting. When scanning result does not match with predetermined setting or no update data is to be downloaded from network, the processing unit and the wireless module are turned off. When scanning result matches predetermined setting and an update data is available to be downloaded, the processing unit is activated to wake up the computer system to download update data from network.
