  • Patent number: 4757371
Abstract: A still picture transmission apparatus in which still picture data is transmitted in packet form from a central terminal having a picture data bank selectively to a plurality of local terminals through a common transmission line at which a plurality of distinct logic channels are established, wherein a packet transmission is conducted in such a manner that a command designating a channel number is transmitted to a desired local terminal to which channel the local terminal is to be connected, and still picture data is transmitted with the use of the packet having said channel number.

  • Patent number: 4191974
Abstract: Binary 0's and 1's from picture elements in each line are counted with respect to each mode determined by adjacent picture elements to form symbol patterns determined by both the counts and the information content of a memory. Each pattern is encoded into a code word to be transmitted having a bit number determined by the arrangement of binary symbols included in it. Also the code words can be transmitted on the basis of address numbers of picture elements, starting with the output from a coder associated with a mode having the two-valued signal with the least address number.

  • Patent number: 4042380
Abstract: This invention relates to a free-cutting steel that is used as a material for mechanical construction members be manufactured by machining as well as cold working. There has been proposed resulfurized free-machining steels containing large amounts of sulfur to improve the machinability, as well as resulfurized free-machining steels containing sulfur and zirconium to improve machinability and cold workability. None of these steels, however, simultaneously satisfy the machinability cold workability and mechanical properties required of steels used for the construction of machines. The present invention provides a steel comprising 0.08 to 0.6% of carbon, 0.35% or less of silicon, 0.3 to 1.5% of manganese, 0.04 to 0.15% of sulfur, 0.010 to 0.05% of aluminum, 0.01 to 0.08% of niobium, 0.008% or less of oxygen, 0.008% or less of nitrogen, wherein the amount of zirconium being 0.2 to 1.2 in terms of (Zr% -2.9x 0% -6.
