  • Patent number: 8800220
Abstract: A Portland cement concrete recess insert is characterized by a quadrant shape, an obverse wall, a contact wall, and a convex wall. The obverse wall is coupled orthogonally with the contact wall along a contact line, and extends laterally of the convex wall to define a perimetric flange. The convex wall is coupled with the obverse wall and the contact wall radially opposite the contact line. A pair of recess inserts is connectable along the contact walls to define a semicircular convex wall. A bilaterally symmetrical open channel traverses the contact wall and intercepts the convex wall at two locations. The pair of recess inserts is mutually joinable along the contact walls to juxtapose the open channels and define a closed channel to enclose a portion of a lift anchor.

  • Patent number: 8695287
Abstract: A lift anchor for a precast pre-stressed concrete tee includes a pair of slender parallel legs each characterized by a longitudinal axis, a first end, and a second end. The first ends join at a slender head. The longitudinal axes define a plane. A pair of oval-shaped feet are forged with the legs perpendicular thereto and characterized by a major axis. The forged feet are configured so that the major axes are either perpendicular or parallel to the plane. The legs and feet can be embedded in a precast pre-stressed concrete tee so that the head is exposed for coupling with a hoisting device.

  • Patent number: 8667746
Abstract: A building panel comprises 2 parallel slabs separated by a layer of insulation. Each of a pair of planar plate-like lift wings has a 1st and a 2nd lift wing portion. Each of the 1st lift wing portions is penetrated by at least one through opening. A planar plate-like lift head defines a plane of symmetry orthogonal thereto. 1st and 2nd lift head portions are symmetrically disposed on either side of the plane of symmetry. Each lift head portion is penetrated by at least one through opening symmetrically disposed relative to the plane of symmetry. Each lift head portion is penetrated by at least one through opening symmetrically disposed relative to the plane of symmetry. The lift head is attachable to both lift wings when the 1st lift wing portions are orthogonal to the plane of symmetry. The lift head is detachable from both lift wings to eliminate thermal conductivity between the lift wings.

  • Patent number: 6761007
Abstract: A structural tie shear connector for use with a concrete and insulation composite panel. The panel has a first concrete wythe, a second concrete wythe, and an insulation layer interposed between the first and second concrete wythes. The connector has two sides extending in a direction substantially parallel to a longitudinal centerline of the connector and two sides extending across the longitudinal centerline of the connector. First and second pairs of angular links are connected to the sides, and a pair of legs are connected to, and extend outward from, one side of the connector. The connector is extendable through the insulation layer and into the first and second concrete wythes to hold the panel together.

  • Patent number: 5623804
Abstract: A support member for a concrete structure comprises a T-shaped insert defining a T-shaped internal volume. A nut is inserted in the transverse portion of the internal volume and end caps are placed over the ends of the insert to fully seal enclose the internal volume. The insert is then placed within a form for a concrete structure such that the base surface of the T-shaped insert will be coplanar with a surface of the concrete after the concrete has been poured into the form and set. The base wall of the insert is then removed, thus exposing the T-shaped volume. The distal end of a bolt can be inserted into the insert and fixed to the nut. The proximal end of the bolt extends out of the insert and beyond the surface of the concrete and can be attached to equipment or other structure which is to be supported on the concrete structure.

  • Patent number: 5588263
Abstract: An adaptor bar is disclosed for removably coupling in fixed relation a pair of single anchor inserts used in casting concrete, thereby forming a double anchor insert. The anchor inserts are used as permanently installed lifting points in the construction of tilt-up concrete walls and the like. The adaptor bar includes T-shaped cutouts in each end which cooperate with reliefs in an elongated anchor member of a single anchor insert to allow the adaptor bar to releasably engage an elongated anchor member at each end. The inventive adaptor bar provides for an inexpensive double anchor and allows the user to only stock single anchors without the need to have a separate inventory of double anchors as well.
