  • Patent number: 6986335
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine (10) installed in a motor vehicle having controlled intake and exhaust valves and that is coupled in fixed fashion with an electrical machine (16) charging an electrical energy accumulator, in particular a battery (21), wherein, in order to enable the electrical machine to perform recuperation on overrun or during braking operation of the internal combustion engine (10), the drag power or braking power of the internal combustion engine is regulated via intervention in the valve actuation process so that a braking or deceleration behavior of the motor vehicle is obtained that is familiar to the driver of the motor vehicle, wherein the valve actuation process and a regulation of the generator and motor operation of the electrical machine (16) are carried out as a function of the state of charge, preferably of at least four levels of the state of charge, of the energy accumulator (21), and wherein the valve actuation process and the regulation of the electrica

  • Patent number: 6834630
Abstract: The invention relates to a starter system for an internal combustion engine, in particular in motor vehicles, having a starter motor, a reduction gear, and a pinion-engaging assembly. The primary components of the starter system (10) are embodied as individual modules and can be expanded in variable ways to make starter systems (10) with different parameters.

  • Patent number: 6774529
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotor body, especially for the rotor of the starter or the starter-generator of an internal combustion engine. Said rotor body is provided with a hub (4) that extends coaxially with respect to the axis of rotor rotation (A). The inventive rotor body comprises a rotation-symmetric base body (5) that forms the hub (4) and one or more blades (1, 2, 3) that all have the same thickness in the direction of the rotor rational axis (A).

  • Publication number: 20040025835
Abstract: In the case of a method for operating an internal combustion engine (10) installed in a motor vehicle having controlled intake and exhaust valves and that is coupled in fixed fashion with an electrical machine (16) charging an electrical energy accumulator (21), in order to enable recuperation on overrun or during braking operation of the internal combustion engine (10) while maintaining the braking or deceleration behavior of the motor vehicle expected by the driver, the drag or braking power of the internal combustion engine is regulated by intervening in the valve actuation process so that the sum of the braking power of the electrical machine and the internal combustion engine corresponds at any point during vehicle deceleration to the braking power produced by a conventional internal combustion engine having “conventional” valve actuation.

  • Patent number: 6134977
Abstract: A cranking device (10) for internal combustion engines, in which the mounting of a gear arrangement (15) with a free-wheel coupling (25), a power takeoff shaft (17) and a shifting pinion (26) as well as a starting relay (30) on a intermediate plate (21) is to be automated. It is proposed that the intermediate plate (21) and a bearing block (36) for the deflection lever (27) of the starting relay (30) form an assembly unit, on which on the one hand the gear arrangement (15) with the power takeoff shaft (17) and the shifting pinion (26) as well as the starting relay (30) can be pre-mounted, and in which on the other hand these parts can be joined together by the deflection lever (27) that is mounted in detent-lockable fashion on the bearing block (36).
