  • Patent number: 7140958
Abstract: An apparatus for dividing a sausage strand includes at least two opposite spaced-apart guide elements having a distance which can be adapted to a sausage caliber such that the filled sausage strand can be moved between and through the guide elements in the transportation direction along a first axis and rotated by the guide elements about the first axis, and a means for jointly rotating the guide elements about the first axis. The sausage strand is first filled with a filling tube of a filling unit, and then guided in the transportation direction through the at least two opposite spaced-apart guide elements whose distance can be adapted to the sausage caliber, and the guide elements are rotated about a first axis extending along the transportation direction, wherein the filled sausage strand is also rotated about the first axis, the filled sausage strand being simultaneously supported at a place in the transportation direction behind the guide elements.

  • Patent number: 5083970
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing sausages of equal length by dividing a sausage string produced by a filling machine and discharged from a dividing means, which include sensing the central, cylindrical part of the sausage is with a measuring roll and producing length pulses in the course of this process simultaneously producing volume pulses corresponding to the meat volume transported during this period of length measurement and comparing length pulses with the volume pulses, whereupon the total number of volume pulses required for producing the desired length of the sausage is calculated in a control means and the discharge of the sausage meat is stopped when said total number of volume pulses has been reached, the dividing process than being initiated.

  • Patent number: 4723581
Abstract: A process and apparatus for drawing off deformable masses containing air, such as sausage masses. The mass is transferred in a stream from a supply space into a filling cylinder where a vacuum is generated relative to the space to remove air from the mass, and the transferred mass is then ejected from the filling cylinder by means of a piston. To transfer the mass quickly and remove air from it completely, the mass stream is guided, during its transfer into the filling cylinder in such a way that, as it enters the filling cylinder, it first moves towards the cylinder wall at an angle to the direction of the piston. Moreover, during filling the level of mass in the filling cylinder is maintained at an essentially constant filling height so that a constant volume of free space remains above the mass in the filling cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4443300
Abstract: A paper making machine contains a filter or screen cylinder and an external filter or wire guided over guide rolls, the external filter or wire being trained about the filter cylinder. The stock suspension is introduced by means of a free jet-headbox between the cylinder and the external filter, into an essentially linear portion of the external filter or wire, if desired while carrying out a dewatering operation. The removal of the fiber web or fleece is accomplished directly from the filter cylinder on to a felt web.

  • Patent number: 4430159
Abstract: A twin-wire papermaking machine contains a region having two wires guided in mutual contact with one another and at which there is located at least one stock infeed device. The stock infeed device possesses the form of a box or cabinet member having an open side along which move both of the wires. Within the stock infeed device there is located a fibrous stock suspension suitable for the fabrication of paper and which is at an excess pressure in relation to the atmosphere. At the side of the wires facing away from the stock infeed device there can be arranged a suction device.

  • Patent number: 4198270
Abstract: The head box has a plurality of distribution pipes for delivering pulp with each distribution pipe communicating via a plurality of feed pipes with a row of flow ducts in a block having a plurality of rows of flow ducts. The feed pipes have equal flow resistance and each has a pin-shaped part at the inlet end which acts to anchor the feed pipe in place. Each pin-shaped part also carries a cam which projects into a distribution pipe to keep the inlet to the respective feed pipe free of fibers.

  • Patent number: 4176005
Abstract: A double filter papermaking machine comprising two filters guided over a dewatering cylinder. A first one of the filters contains a linear section or path located in front of the cylinder. A domed dewatering or slide shoe, shorter than such linear section, is arranged ahead of the cylinder. The second filter is equipped with an adjustable guide roll, by means of which it is possible to regulate the contact location of the second filter at the first filter, and specifically, between a location disposed at the starting region of the shoe and a location arranged after the shoe at the dewatering cylinder. A regulation device or regulator can be provided which contains a feeler for sensing the position of the water line at the dewatering cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4154649
Abstract: A pulp feed for a paper making machine comprising a nozzle channel or duct for the flow of the pulp or the like and terminating at a movable permeable element. The pulp feed has a first section bounded by a lower lip closer to the permeable element and a more remotely located pivotable upper lip which is adjustable at its edge which is downstream with regard to the flow of the pulp. The pulp feed further includes a second section which is bounded, on the one hand, by the permeable element, and on the other hand, by a pre-lip which merges with the upper lip and is pivotably mounted thereat by means of at least one substantially plug-shaped part. The outlet end of the pre-lip is adjustable in relation to the permeable element.

  • Patent number: 4146427
Abstract: The head box guide is formed of a metal block with cylindrical bores into which a pair of telescoping plastic inserts are fitted. Each pair of inserts are formed so as to define a stepped widening within the block. In addition, the inserts have terminal parts which are disposed outside of the bores and which are locked together in contiguous fashion so as to avoid any gaps. Also, a honeycomb connecting member rests on the downstream terminal parts of the inserts to form continuations of the flow passages.

  • Patent number: 4089739
Abstract: The plates which define the throat of the head box are movable simultaneously to adjust the size of the exit throat while the angle between the plates is maintained. The adjusting means includes adjusting rods which are slidable lengthwise of the head box and transverse linkages which are pivotally secured to slidable locating members affixed to the plates. Adjusting screws at the throat provide a fine adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4071401
Abstract: The auxiliary roll of the separating system is located downstream of the main roll and is spaced from the main roll at a distance less than 0.25 times the diameter of the auxiliary roll and greater than the combined thickness of the two wires and paper web therebetween, e.g. a distance of 10 millimeters. A separating wall is located between the main roll and main wire on the upstream side to block the entry of air between the main wire and main roll. The spacing of the two rolls ensures a positive separation of the paper web on the main wire.
