  • Patent number: 4992028
Abstract: A liquid ring pump includes an impeller rotatably supported in an open ended cup-shaped housing. The impeller includes blades which are spaced to form pockets therebetween so that a certain amount of liquid may be maintained in the pockets to compress gas introduced beneath the liquid. A control disk having an inlet port and at least one outlet port is positioned adjacent to the impeller. A cup-shaped cover having intake and pressure connections and a partition wall therebetween covers the open end of the housing. The control disk and cup-shaped cover together with the partition wall form a suction chamber in fluid communication with the intake connection and a surge chamber in fluid communication with the pressure connection. Intake gas flows from the intake connection into the suction chamber and then through the control disk inlet port into at least one of the impeller blade pockets.

  • Patent number: 4964785
Abstract: A pump assembly having a mounting arrangement which minimizes or eliminates bending stresses which may cause grinding between the pump rotor and its housing includes laterally spaced legs extending from the pump housing at a location adjacent to the end opposite the end coupled to the drive motor. The undersurface of each leg includes a surface upon which the assembly may pivot. Furthermore, the motor is fastened to a support plate at a single point, while another mechanism in combination with that connection prevents relative rotation between the motor and the support plate.

  • Patent number: 4943208
Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-stage lateral channel compressor, wherein the housings of the individual compressor stages consisting of individual housing shells are arranged axially, one behind the other, and are mechanically interconnected, wherein, in addition, a common driving shaft is provided for the impellers of the individual compressor stages, and a coolant is provided in the interspace which exists between the housings of the individual compressor stages. An intensive cooling is thereby achieved, in that the interspace is sealed both from the outside and also against the driving shaft, an inlet and an outlet orifice are each assigned to the interspace and a liquid coolant, which flows through the interspace, is supplied and evacuated by way of these orifices.

  • Patent number: 4907945
Abstract: A side-channel compressor includes a rotor having transport blades, and an injection nozzle for introducing a cooling liquid into a transport section of the compressor. Damage to the transport blades by droplets of liquid can be avoided by the providing the injection nozzle at the part of the compressor housing forming the side channel. The injection nozzle directs the coolant into a side channel space which is free of the transport blades.

  • Patent number: 4836241
Abstract: A valve for controlling a pressure differential between a high and low pressure, characterized by a housing being sub-divided by a transfer port into a first and second chamber, each having ports, a valve member movable in the first chamber to close the transfer port, a spring arrangement for urging the valve member to a closing position, a membrane extending across an opening end of the housing, which is in communication with the first chamber and held on by a cap forming a third chamber having a port and means for connecting the valve member to the membrane so that when a pressure differential between the pressure in the first chamber and third chamber exceeds the value of the spring arrangement, the transfer port is open to allow passage of the pressure in the first chamber into the second chamber.
